"Wedding Feast". Seriously. Every single youngster I've ever played that song for loved it and made me play it at least 10 times. Sometimes 20!

But then I'd have to listen to it 20 times. I love the kid, I really do but he's only my nephew, so..... If the milk turns out to be sour, I aint the kinda pussy to drink it!

coffeebreak said: Being a very young kid, you may choose the ones with a video or live performance to accompany them. Kids are very "visual" at that age, he may get bored if he can't "look" while listening. I always start with videos, than they start asking for songs alone, to dance, once they know them. It's education after all... Takes time Great idea, raspberry beret and I wish u heaven stand out as visually enticing. If the milk turns out to be sour, I aint the kinda pussy to drink it!

Don't do it... lol
My parents, uncle, aunts, cousins, family etc.. Never force fed ANY music on me... But I will tell u, JUST being around it, influenced me. Luckily, I was 4 years old with a little record player and access to the family box of LPs and 45s... Even at that age I could figure out what the Good ones were! I loved music so much, that my parents didn't have to tell me twice to be careful with the vinyl. My only misfortune was once accidently getting a small electrical shock from either plugging in or unplugging my record player.. LOL.
I Love that my neice is Just now discovering music, Beyond what she's familiar with from children's programing and basically Disney movies. (SHE loves songs from any Princess movie, since she Absolutely believes she is a princess and she Certainly is!) She listens to what's around her... the ones that are eye opening are when we do play music.. she starts singing some lyrics from songs she hears in the car on the radio or on the bus etc.. She's like a sponge and will request certain tunes.. and my sister and myself just ask her.. How do u Know of that song, Espeically so well.
Once I did try to play a few Prince tunes.. I asked.. what do u think? She just nonchalantly semi-rolled her eyes and said.. Oh this sounds like my momma's music! And wished to move on to something more to her liking. Cool. I think I liked that I had access to my family's music.. I will give her access to mine.. when she's old enuff for a laptop or Ipod.. Damn straght I'll have a treasure chest of Paisley Goodness and other classics for her to open on an external hardrive with my music collection when she's old enuff.
But for now.. her idea that Justin Beiber is "The best ever.. there is no better singer" is JUST fine with me! I'm digging seeing how she is finding her own favorites on her own.

I absolutely agree with this that's why I chose a lot of the one's i chose as well, but also being 5 years old they want something they can really enjoy, bob their heads or dance too. So something deep meaning in a slow song i don't think is going to work for a 5 year old. I think songs like Partyman, Batdance, Trust, 1999, 3121, U Got the Look, etc... Things of this nature I think a kid would enjoy more and then want more.

No. No, everything, but I can't take Bieber! Luckily (for me, not for him) by the time she has the right age to enjoy someone like him, no one will even remember who Bieber IS We only saw one of his videos on youtube once and she said he's boring. But there will be someone else I guess! For now, she is still so in love with her mommy she likes everything I like Yes I know that's not going to last! But I try to settle a good background, and then we'll see...
It's also a good thing that adults share with children what they love, especially family members and especially if we talk about culture and arts. They learn much more this way than just listening to boring lessons at school! Music, art, good books, movies... If they see we love these things, they'll be interested, too.

Batdance is the firm favourite of my 5 year old. He also love Get Loose on Crystal ball cuz it sounds kinda Halloweeny! His words, not mine.

Be My Mirror was one of my sister's favorite songs for a while..she's almost 6 now. And when MPLSound came out (I think she was 2 or 3 then), she loved No More Candy 4 U and Chocolate Box--she liked to say "with the drums" and pat her legs to the beat. What is your main problem?
To whom it may concern: I love you! Humankind..be both.
