Princeapalooza

I always thought it would be cool to see Prince do an all day musical festival celebrating his music and associated artist's as well. If Prince would do something like this, who would be on the bill (Prince related) and who would be in Prince's band? And what the hell, what songs would you like to see Prince do.

Mine would be in MPLS at the Target Center (air conditioning and comfy chairs will be available) on June 7, 2003. Tickets are free to 2002 NPGMC for having to wait for year 3 and what's ever left the price would be $1000.00 for VIP and $150 the rest of the house and will ALL go to charity.

Mine would be (in order)- Mazarati
Taja Sevelle*
Mavis Staples*
Jill Jones*
The Family reunion
Madhouse
Jesse Johnson
Sheila E.*
The Time reunion
Wendy and Lisa*

*with house band featuring: Wendy Melvoin-Guitar,Vocals
Lisa Coleman-Keyboards.Vocals
Sheila E.- Percussion,Vocals
Mike Scott-Guitar
Sonny T- Bass
Michael Bland-Drums
Tommy Barberella-Keyboards
Eric Leeds
The Hornheadz
Susannah Melvoin-Backing Vocals

And Prince's band for the night would be a revolving one and would consist of:
Wendy Melvoin
Lisa Coleman
Sheila E.
Bobby Z.
Michael Bland
Rhonda Smith
Renato Neto
Doctor Fink
Miko Weaver
Brownmark
Eric Leeds
Levi Seacer Jr.
Hornheadz
Sonny T.

And of course they'll be booths where you can either Pin The Tail on Larry Graham, throw a pie at Kirky J., or a dunk tank starring Tina Graham.

And for me, Prince's set would would consist of a four hour performance spanning from For You to The Rainbow Children. He will for sure perform Sometimes is Snows with Wendy and Lisa, just the 3 of them. And the show would open with Around the World in a Day.

How would your Princeapalooza be??? Discuss. headbang

There's not a lot here I would change, except to add Sue Ann Carwell to the bill, and (if she wouldn't mind) Gayle Chapman, though I know she left Prince years ago due to religious reasons. Perhaps they can do a religious song together, like The Christ or something.

I'll have to come back after I've thought of my Prince dream setlist...

This was the vision for the first Celebration, but nobody from his past wanted to come back because he shit on most of them so bad.

If Larry Graham ain't there, I am there..

it's not that i don't like the guy, but damn, he's like Prince's shadow for real. i mean he's taller, darker with no personality, and seems to follow Prince wherever he goes, so he is literally like a shadow.

give me a delorian and a thunderstorm, and i will personally go back in time, right before PRince and Larry decide to get together and stop it from happening,

then we can have our real PRince back, and won't have to hear Larry's off key bass voice, that sounds like your speakers are distorting.. u don't get funk face by his talent, u get funk face from a lack thereof.

but as far as the festival goes, if Larry ain't invited, i think u have one hell of a line up there.

If Larry can make you skip a show, you're making him way too powerful... neutral

not that he's powerful but he's damn annoying..

prince could perform me and my shadow, and point to larry each time he says shadow.

the show in stl in 98 was cool, but Larry just didn't have it going on..

just my opinion, i prefer my Prince nasty with no Larry..
