Peach & Black - appreciation & thank you

OK so I have been driving to and from work this last week listening to some P&B podcasts. The last one I have listened to is the Come Album.

Now this album is one I brought cheap at a garage sale for $2 - (I am only new to Prince for the last 5 years or so) and this was an album I had tossed in the back of the CD drawer as "not so great - and a little bit too rude...." eek

But listening to that podcast made me dig it out, dust it off and give it a whirl.

Wow - I heard it all so differently after what I had learnt to look out for on the Podcast and this may now become my fav Prince album.

So thanks guys for helping me to learn more about Prince and get some better understanding and appreciation for the music. wink

Keep up the great work. lol

I have been a P fan for over 30 years and this podcast has even gotten me to hear things I had never heard. And it's just fun to go back through the catalogue with each review. Keep doing what you do. Show is hot. And at times hilarious.

Totally agree. And to make it even better, it'd be cool if y'all could find a woman that fits in good with you guys. That's not a knock against the show. It'd just be even better to get a different perspective, not that all women think the same of course. Hmm, with 5 people, the show would be about 20% longer because I wouldn't want to short change anybody's commentary time.

Now this is a great point, because I acually thought that too, as it does give another dimension to the perspective of things. I was going to mention that but forgot !! So +1 on that idea.

I look forward to a P&B Podcast review of past Prince albums more than the prospect of a new album these days. Of all the team, whose opinions I respect and am fascinated by all 'round...I find myself agreeing with Captain the most. His style of Prince music preference is very much in line with my own. Keep up the great work guys!

Good idea. A woman who loves Prince and appreciates his musical talent. A real lady like Sassey, who isn't crazy about Prince the man but knows Prince is one of the greatest musicians.

Yeah, totally agree with all the above. Discovered them a couple of years ago and absolutely love the podcasts. We all get our Prince fix via the web or printed word, so to hear human voices critique and mainly praise Prince's work with as much as enthusiasm, intelligence and depth as we have is just, well, fucking excellent!! I certainly never get in conversations about Prince beyond the obvious in my circle of friends. Love the fact that the chaps are all musicians and can inform what is going on musically in the songs (as I'm learning guitar) which gives another, for me at least, very interesting dimension which I could listen to all day about.

Nice one chaps, already rueing the day when you run out of albums to review!

I discovered the Peach and Black guys last year just before the Melbourne show. They are by far the best and greatest Prince podcast around, they know and love the music and their reviews are great. I just can't wait for them to review more classic albums like 1999 and Dirty Mind and of course Purple Rain.

I also love the fact, they are Aussie, so understand us kiwis quite well, are musos themselves and not just blinded by Prince's star status, they keep it real and will tell us when a dog is a dog.

Captain is the funniest as his taste in Prince songs and albums is so far from the pale its hilarious and he is seriously one unique Prince fan who loves songs like We gets up and The Morning After over Adore and Do Me Baby. That takes a lot of spunk. And they were all flabbergasted when he was agreing with them over the song Lovesexy.

They say funny things too, like comparing For You to 70s porno music and getting annoyed as the sex me girl "99" on Joint to Joint. And imitating Morrisisms on the Time review, "Prince is with Morris in the studio saying come on Morris give it more - Giiirrllll!!!" "I thought you said this was a funk group, I ain't got time for this shit" "The Time's first song was what they were all about, getting laid and Captain says "Yeeh!" in a Morris Day/Quagmire way. lol lol

I hope they keep making Podcasts for years to come and when they have finished reviewing all the albums, maybe do them again, or review bootlegs, do their favourite shows, albums, songs etc. The possibilities are endless.

And of course the trade mark statement that has arisen mostly out of Captains mouth "Most skippable track on the album" lol

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

Well it would be a boring show if we all liked the same songs ..

and as for the future, there really aren't that many albums left to go.. so we better start thinking about what else we can still do shows about ?!!

For some reason in Jan this year I was thinking "I'd love to hear a P&B podcast on Come" and then a few days later whaddayaknow...

Just seen the 2hr19min D&P ep arrive in my iTunes - and I cannot wait.

MC, Toejam, Playa, Captain; These guys are terrific. Love the chat, love the guests, love the banter.

Very much looking forward to the Montreux 2013 ep - MC you are going, right?
