Maybe that's why so many fellows here hated Bria back in 2009, because they were unemployed and mad that she'd reject them? lol lol

But seriously this line "note 2 self, must avoid broke back busters unemployed"... eek eek eek

So basically an unemployed man is not good enough for Bria? What if he's a hard working man who just CAN'T find an employment despite his efforts? Was it really cool, in a country just plagued by an economical crisis, to sing such lyrics?

Note that i'm not pointing finders at Bria, for all we know Prince may as well have written these lyrics.

U'll probably say that I make such a big deal of such an unimportant lyric but still... I was always a bit upset by these... (and before u ask, i WAS emplyed when the album came out lol )

Opinions?

Come on, we all know that Prince wrote her album, but I'm REALLY REALLY hoping that "2nite" is the exception and that Bria actually wrote it, because it's, well... it's pretty crappy.

Ya'll leave BreBre alone lol

I don't know Bria's intention behind the lyrics.

My experience with this topic:

guys prefer rich girls with jobs or money.

And let her pay for his costs, stereo, car, etcetera.

So he can spend his own money in the club, pretending to be rich and impress other girls/people.

It says co-composed ans ASCAP reflects this (except for Kept Woman of course) so it's possible that Bria was involved in the lyrics and/or melodies, that or Prince gave her some ASCAP royalties like he did with Sheila, Carmen and Tamar.

Actually the song In Ur Bed which isn't supposed to contain any Prince involvement has a melody that sounds a LOT like the melodies of several Elixer song, so that would tend to demonstrate Bria has a melodic style and may have been involved in the composing process.

We don't KNOW, we THINK. It's possible but not 100% certain. If we start to claim that theories are facts we may as well burn all copies of Uptown magazine, The Vault and Per Nielsen's books and send all researchers to hell...

For Sheila's Romance 1600, we know because numerous witnesses from Prince's camp back then said it.

For Carmen it's a bit more blurry because no one said a thing but the fact that she was reported to be quite unintererested in a music career + the fact that she received royalties for Good Judy Girlfriend which we know 4 sure is a Prince composition tend to indicate that she never wrote a line of lyrics (which in a way is a pity because it means Prince is responsible for this whole bunch of stupid lyrics lol ).

For Tamar, all I know is that someone here reported that she personnaly told him she hadn't written a thing and that Prince gave her the royalties as a friendly gesture (now this person may have been lying but the report seemed honest).

For Bria, as far as I know there is no definitive element to demonstrate that her ASCAP credits are unearned. Same goes with Andy.

But Prince has done this throughout his career, relinquishing writing credit.

Are you kidding? More so than just about any of his other puppets, Bria is obviously not a songwriter or a musician. If she was, don't you think we'd have seen or heard something aside from her one album and video? The only live performances of any Elixr tracks have been by Prince, which says it all. The only reason Bria's album exists is because Prince wanted it to and you can bet that we'll never hear from her again.

Andy is different, and I think it's clear that she actually wrote the material in Superconductor. She had a career before him, and seems to be getting MORE attention now that he's moved on. She's also debuted new material in the last few months. I'm not a big fan of Andy, but she's the real deal.

*Sings* If I was a gigolo all my life, she's still be there

It was my husband.

If only I just hired myself a gigolo in stead of getting married.

I would still have a solid financial record and a boosted self esteem from gigolo's compliments.

In stead I got depleted in every thinkable way.
