Help me understand how Mccartney is considered a billionaire? Wasn't it reported when he got divorced his net worth was revealed to be around $600 million? (and that was only a few years ago).

It's actually not hard to believe Prince almost went bankrupt between the lovesexy tour and between building paisy park, not to mention graffiti bridge the movie catastrophy. In the 90s, Prince didn't tour the usa that much and wen he did, alot of it was at small venues. Prince doesn't a liscenese his songs that often to be used in movies or commercials. When Prince became an independent artist he had to foot the bill for all the failed releases and projects that were done through paisly park and not to mention all those legal fees vs. warner brothers. id estimate that Prince was only worth 30-45 million in liquid cash by the year 2000 and probably making no more than 1-2 million a year when all was said and done. But musicology the tour alone grossed 80 million dollars not including record sales. 3121 went platinum. Welcome 2 america tour. Increase in popularity probably brought him to around 215-250 that we see now. besides, Key note. Prince isn't well known in latin america which is a huge market that contains almost a billion people.

Michael Jackson was literally called "The Billion Dollar Entertainer" back in the early 90's. So I think he crossed over the Billion mark easily but he also spent money and gave to charity like there was no tomorrow all the time.
As for Prince I think he's probably gotten close to making a Billion through the course of his career but he also likes to spend money. I think Prince is doing pretty damn well financially though and this is what has given him the freedom since leaving WB to punch out as many albums as he wants with no real risk of losing money on them cause he had enough.

Does it make a difference for P? Does it matter to us? Does it matter in a monetary context? (fiat currency is going the way of the dodo) Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

I remember, during the "slave era" in the 90s,he was filming videos for damn near every song he recorded but the videos were never shown on MTV or anywhere else.It was for his own personal enjoyment. That stuff adds up.In late 1994/early 95,the rumors of financial problems surfaced again.

I don't know if it matters to Prince. I just wanted to get views from people as to whether or not they are surprised Prince is not in the Billionaire club. No harm is intended. I was just thinking that someone with a career like Prince has had hasn't reached that status. People keep saying how he likes to spend money. Please give examples. Outside of building Paisley Park, what has he reportedly spent lots of bread on?? Just curious.......... "Who wrote that"?

I thought Warner Bros. footed the $10 mil for Prince to build Paisley Park!!
Also, hasnt Prince been in trouble with the taxman over the past few years on more than one occassion, which resulted in him having to pay back taxes?? Also, havent we heard that he doesnt pay people for their services to him, like guitar manufacturers, etc.?? So, either he is a forgetful tightwad or he never had the money to pay them??
Then, also hes not a generous payer to all his band members over the years(I wonder how long 3rd Eye Girl are gonna last, when they see their paychecks?? )
So, I guess, Prince likes to hang onto his money!!!

i think he spends so much on limos & makeup/hair products that it prevents him from reaching billionaire status

he financed with own money much of it produced, I think he did well, we have great albums that were not selling success, I have not heard anything from janet jackson yet (only some songs), but I doubt that it all comes from the music.

I read Madonna joined the billionaire club recently; she was worth around $700 million then took in $350m with her MDNA tour last year.
I'm not sure how much of that she personally took home but there's no denying the woman is smart with her money.

the thing about Madonna and Janet being billionaires is suspect.I read both articles on them.both spoke of what the revenue of music sales, concert ticket sales and acting.but never mentioned what they brought home actually.
