Don't U think Prince is losing his judgement, those iTunes-singles are really bad

Extraloveable remix, Rock N Roll Love Affair, Fixurlifeup.

.

I am embarrassed, has Prince lost his touch and his judgment. question

.

his studio releases on iTunes just can't get any worse than those 3 songs,

.

thats my opinion, Prince is going downhill, and his fanbase is shrinking with every weak release.

.

I wonder can the music-buying Prince fanbase get any smaller than in 2013. question

.

I did not buy those 3 singles, because I really dislike those "new" songs.

.

I hope Prince will come back with some strong material this year, in 2013, -- earlier on, he made a promise, that 2013 would be a big year, right? (Or was it only Doctor FB that said so?),

.

I am not sure Prince is able come up with another Little Red Corvette song, I know he can't, that seems too late, and that is ok.. but its a little sad to hear just how bad the material is on iTunes, don't you think.

.

Those iTunes-singles are really "tame" without "bite",

.

Prince can do better, I really, really, really hope so.

.

"2013 will be big", Okay....... I really hope it will.. cuz I really need that to happen.

.

I quite like these singles, particularly fixurlifeup and donna's guitar parts in that song. I think I will follow her career from here in, something I've never done with an associate artist.

I'm confused...exactly who is the schizophrenic, you or Prince? I'm not trying to be adversarial. Prince is not a deity. I happen to be enjoying the 2013 releases. But, if I weren't, I don't think I'd dedicate this much time to saying how disappointed I am. Okay, you hate what Prince is doing. Move on. And, admittedly, I must be as bad as you because when I see these types of threads, I can't stop rubbernecking them like some really bad auto accident. I just don't understand why you and others dedicate so much time to saying how much you hate what Prince is doing. It's obviously not going to change what he's doing. Just accept that you and Prince are obviously in two different artistic places and find someone who creates art that moves you. It's that simple. To say that you are embarrassed by something that someone else created says a lot more about you than it does about them. In fact, it says nothing about Prince. Prince doesn't owe you or me or anyone a song that we like. Prince owes himself as we all owe ourselves. That's the nature of art and the nature of life. Deal with it and move on. You are too smart and insightful to be acting/posting this immaturely.

I'm confused... 1) exactly who is the schizophrenic, you or Prince? I'm not trying to be adversarial. Prince is not a deity. I happen to be enjoying the 2013 releases. 1) schizofrenic?? lol

.

how did "mental illness" get into your reply? whatever, I just find that a bit strange, and a little funny too... wink

.

2) I wrote this thread about the lack of quality in Prince's recent singles on iTunest -- BECAUSE I STILL CARE -- about Prince and his music. And because it IS quite a bit frustrating to be a Prince fan, and I just have to get my frustrations off my chest, that is the reason to write it here.

.

3) Just in case the Prince camp is reading the Org: Prince needs to be told that he have to change, and re-charge his batteries, whatever. In some way I believe Prince cares what his fans thinks about him.... I think he might read this, -- could be wrong though... smile

I still hope for a funky year 2013.. and, yes, I still care about the studio music from Prince.

I was being flippant with the schizophrenic remark. But, I guess I'm confused about how you or anyone can be frustrated by the art that another person produces. We are not guaranteed to like the art of anyone even if we have loved that person's past art. It "might" be probable the I would like the art of someone if I liked their previous art, but there are so many variables to what humans do and become that it is all a crap shoot if I'll like what someone else does in the future, especially their art. So, it seems that you have frustrations because you are putting, possibly forcing, your expectation of art and life onto someone else. And, as long as you live expecting someone else to meet your expectations of life, then you will forever be frustrated. Again, Prince is just a human being with his own issues and life expectations. Why would he be expected to meet your or my expectations moreso than anyone else? Finally, I don't know if Prince reads the org or not, and even if he does I can't be sure how much or how little it impacts what he will do. Yet, one of the three reasons I became a Prince fan is because he seems to have a "F the world" attitude that he is going to do what he wants to do regardless of whom it offends. So, I don't know what motivates Prince to produce the type of art that he creates at any particular moment, but his past releases seem to indicate that ultimately he cares mostly about what pleases him than what pleases the rest of us. So, you caring about what Prince does or you expecting Prince to do something does not mean that he is obligated in any way to meet those expectations. So, it would be best for your own stress level if you redirected your frustration and invested that energy into finding an artist that creates the type of work that pleases you or create it yourself because that is the only way that you can be sure that you will receive exactly what you desire. As a very crass friend once said to me, “If I could suck myself off, I would, but since I can’t physically do so I accept the limitations of the person willing to suck me off until I can find someone better.” I don’t know if that analogy fits, but you are the cause of your own frustration as long as you are expecting someone else to make you happy.

Man do u realize it's been the same rehashed "Prince has lost it lately" thing ever since the first days of this forum in the late 90's, that we've been getting a post like urs every WEEK 4 FIFTEEN years? And still, every one's still there complaining lol What can we do dude? If u don't like the recent stuff u just stick to the old stuff: Prince is doing what he's doing there's not a thing we can do about it ^^ Some like it, some don't, facts of life, deal with it wink

And for the record what facts do u have supporting the theory that the fanbase is shrinking? Strong record sales every time Prince cares to release a record by proper means? Sold out concerts? Naw man, nothing's shrinking, don't make your personnal (and legitimate as such) opinion a general thing, it's just u dude.

Peace wink

If Prince thinks that this 3rdEyeGirl band is going to make him popular with young people again, without any real presence on the internet, then yes, he is losing his judgement.
If, on the other hand, he just wants to have some fun with his new band, then he is doing fine.
I agree with Thedance that coming from a man who has made some of the best music ever, these new songs are an embarrasment.
But I also agree with those who say there's no reason to get so upset about it. Plenty of other good music around!

Thing is The Dance says that he(himself) is embarrassed which is a personal issue. Why should anyone be embarrassed by what somone they are not linked to intimately does?(When I hear a bad Prince song I don't immediate say, "OMG The Dance must be so ashamed of this track!") Prince obviously doesn't feel embarrassed about this material because he's performed the songs and/or made videos for them.

Exactly.

Prince is fine.

Reviews are raving and so is he.

When he's having fun, it's all good for him, isn't it?

And you are free to buy or not buy his releases. No need to take his work personal.

I really like Breakfast can Wait, That girl thing and Screwdriver.
However, that does not imply anything about the quality of the songs.
It's reflection of my taste and mood. That's all.

(and I do have a great taste, obviously wink)

99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.

Of course you're right, DJJ, but...it's not that simple. If nothing else, a thread like this one shows what it's like to be a fan. Not just a music lover, but a FAN. Being totally dedicated to your idol. For better or for worse. Say whatever you want about this, but this is the impression Prince made on a lot of us who were young in the 1980s. It's not just good music. You respect and admire the artist. Being a fan is part of who you are. And then when your idol becomes a JW, sues the hell out of everybody and releases music that just doesn't make you feel as good as it used to, then it is very hard to just say: Oh well. I'll just buy another record.
I can tell. It took me years to do that! wink

I can tell. It took me years to do that! wink

good view, the post above, SuperSoulFighter.. thanks to you. smile

.

and, this is exactly how I feel about Prince at the moment, I am really "struggling" as a fan. And yeah I was young in the 1980s as well, back when Prince's career, the music he released was just fantastic.

.

although, I have to say the "Fixurlifeup" song is far better played live, than the rather awful iTunes single.

.

(Judging on the Billboard Icon performance).
