How does Prince rate his back catalogue? I've never heard what Prince thinks of his own back catalogue. Does anyone know what his favourite album's of his own are?, or how he thinks his 90's and 00' records hold up today?....would be interested to know. We're here, might as well get into it.

Prince is the type of artist who when asked such a question will usually say something like "my next record is my favourite".

if I had 2 guess id say his fave is "Purple Rain".....at the height of his fame and success......his least favourite would be "Emancipation" cuz it contained the songs "Lets Have a Baby" and his wedding song "Friend, Lover, Sister, MOTHER, Wife".....and with the baby dying shortly afterwards and his marriage breaking down.....he most probably sees that album as a bad omen IMO ......

the songs with curse words in them are bad. All the other ones are good.

Yeah that sounds pretty justified, no arguments there, don't imagine he would ever want to revisit anything from Emancipation, has he played anything live from it since it was released?.
I wonder if he looks back these days and see's a clear superior quality in his 80's work to his other era's, like other people do?... We're here, might as well get into it.

He still plays The Love We Make occasionally. But I agree that's not much from a 36 song set. So maybe yes, those songs remind him of a period he'd rather forget about. Who can blame him. But he still plays a lot of stuff from Sign O'the Times, including non-hits like Strange Relationship, so I guess he's pretty pleased with that one. Once again, who can blame him.
