I've always just sorta glazed over this song in the past... never really paid much attention to it, one way or the other.

Listening to CB disc 3 tonight... WOW. It struck me just how bad this song actually is. very bad. REALLY bad. Worse-than-Jughead-bad.

And then it made me think... WHY?? why inflict this crap upon the world on CB, with so much other great stuff locked in The Vault?? I mean, why not Rebirth of the Flesh or Train or maybe one of the 80's remixes (Kiss, Love or Money, etc). And then there's the fact that each disc is only 50 minutes long... why? to what purpose? 75 minutes of space wasted, over 3 CDs.

I just don't get CB.

"poom poom" makes "jughead" sound tolerable, man...

Jughead does not need any other song to make it sound horrible.

Poom Poom is a good tune!!

I at least love the way the song starts off...that "vuh-dump, vuh-dump, vuh-dump, vuh-dump...VUH-DUMP" thumping beat's pretty cool...as where not one single note of "Jughead" is listenable...

I like Poom Poom. You have to listen it a couple of times to really appreciate it. Esp. the "4:58..." part

Hey,I like "Poom Poom" and I can't see why so many of you don't.It's a funky song,obviously inspired by P-Funk.It's not a masterpiece,but it's a cool jam.

But,nothing compares to "Hide The Bone",that is CLASSIC!

Looks like most of us LIKE PoomPoom. That's good to see in athread that is against the song.

The only thing wrong with "Poom Poom" is the redundant chorus.
Two POOM POOM's would've sufficed.

And don't any of you read the liner notes?!! Prince states that Poom Poom is just a throwaway jam "never intended for any album - just a song to make a female laugh"!

And there is NO production quality on Cloreen Baconskin as it was just a warm-up jam to get Morris Day "in the pocket" and get a tight-assed, funky beat going. Its not a song per se, its all improvised and is basically a rare insight in to Prince rehearsing in the studio!

So, that's all these are, just a sneak view in to how Prince works and showing that he just has jams all over the place. Poom poom is excellent just for that fact that he can record something like that and afford to just leave it in the vault. A lot of artists can struggle to get enough tunes for an album - Prince can either just keep recording or sift through volumes of a back catalogue!

My two cents on this: It doesn't bother me I like the spoken part where prince modifes his voice...

IMO Poom Poom is probably THE worst song ever by Prince, I'd rather listen to Hot Wit' U, that is is saying something

It just shows how bad he got from 1997-2000, it was his lowest period.
