Has anyone written a letter to Prince to remind him that he's about to release an album? I mean, we should probably let him know that he's recorded some new material and that he's planning to release it.


Perhaps, even let him know that a killer lead single and some promotion of it along with the album title might aid in the process.

Now, now--Prince doesn't waste time on the internet, reading what people are saying about him or for him on those websites. The girls in the band, they know--obviously--but they haven't told him yet. I have heard that there will be no album. I guess we are lucky to have the tracks that got posted. ugh

I don't think there will be any new album. Prince wants big money and upfront, which he wouldn't get from an indie release, unless a distribution deal was involved.

Independent releases he's done before were all tied to distribution deals, and he can't get one... he said so, and even stated it as a reason why he wouldn't release an album.

Very sad for folks like myself, who actually enjoy the album experience and appreciate his recent releases... especially 'Lotusflow3r'.

Oh well. I have my own music to record...

Exactly... I mean I'd always make an effort to see him live, but I don't have the time to fly out to the West Coast.

No, I'm not being sarcastic. I really do mean that Prince has no idea what anyone around him, including his bandmates, are doing or saying, and that Ida, Hannah, and Donna are orchestrating absolutely everything about any upcoming album without Prince's awareness or understanding, in order to avoid his getting overly nervous or excited (which he normally does whenever he's in new or confusing or unexpected situations). He doesn't even know that they've been recording rehearsals or that they're being paid for the shows (which he thinks are all being held in assorted venues around the Twin Cities). He thinks they're just inviting some friends over to attend rehearsals while fun. are still using Paisley Park.

Of course I'm being sarcastic. As I assume Imago was in starting the thread.

Now, it's true that I "have no idea how much time he really spends on the org and what he spent on HQ and other sites, especially whilst on tour." I expect very little, but if you have any real knowledge I'd be thankful if you'd share it. That's if Prince himself spent time on them. I assume he has other eyes and ears looking and listening for him, but, absent actual evidence, I doubt he does much himself. I realize some artists do, but I just can't imagine that he does.

Guys, Prince has released the album already. The tracks have been available to download for awhile now. There will be NO physical CD or vinyl release. This has been confirmed twice already.

I feel lucky to have these new tunes.

Exactly. As much as I love Prince's musicianship I get often get put of by his financial interests.

I think it was Alan Leeds saying that for Prince "it was always about the money ..." in the first place.

Truly sad if it is true, especially for a "spiritual person" as Prince wants to be.
