what a great setlist for a show if I say so myself

1. Feel U Up (Long Stroke) - Rhythm section is DISGUSTING. Swagger is an 11.
2. 7 - I'm sick of my own boner for this song, so I won't go on about it. Genius.
3. The Ballad Of Dorothy Parker - I don't think Prince ever captured mood better in a song. You can see and feel everything in the story. I love those staccato bass notes that sound like the strings are loose.
4. Mountains - A unique and crowning achievement from the Parade era. I love when he puts out a track that's hard to define. It's dense, yet light. I'm still not sure what it is exactly.
5. Wonderful Ass - Perfect slice of 80's Prince funk. I feel like this is the capstone of 80's Prince funk. It couldn't be any better.
6. Housequake - Taking James Brown and Dr. Seuss influences and then hanging a sharp left. Brilliant.
7. Somewhere Here On Earth - Of all of his attempts at creating a standard-sounding ballad (Damn U, Extraordinary, Poor Little Bastard, etc.), I think this is his most successful. I like the thought of 2 soul mates who haven't met imagining where the other one is in the world and what they might be like. A fine dose of romantic optimism even at an older age.
8. Sweet Baby - Current sentimental favorite. The chords kind of remind me of the wistfulness Open Book.
9. Eye No - It was hard to stop rewinding and replaying this one when I first got the Lovesexy tape as a kid. Whatever he was on at the time was infectious.
10. Head - Current funk fave. I was daydreaming the other day about him strapping on a bass and doing this one as a 3-piece with just drums, bass, and keys. No frills, all pocket.
11. I Would Die 4 U (Extended Version) - So joyous and free! Makes me want to open the windows and let the sun in.
12. Still Would Stand All Time - This one really took me away as a kid and made me emotional. I love the tension from the strings during the verses and the resolution and climax of the gospel part. I also love how he brings that Purple Rain gospel fervor to his vocals at the end. I feel like he doesn't do that a lot.
13. Future Soul Song - I'm not religious, but I like his imagery of Heaven on this track, and the idea of reuniting one day as future souls. I also like the old soul melody of it that makes you want to slow dance.
14. Private Joy - I don't know why but this one will just not leave my Prince play list. It's not really that special but it makes me happy.
15. Condition of the Heart - I love the intimacy of this song. I feel like I'm right there watching him at Sunset Sound.
16. Electric Chair - This one won't leave my play list either. Such a beast.
17. Good Love - It's like a dose of vitamin D. It has to be the BLBC soundtrack version, though. Those extra 30 seconds are imperative.
18. In This Bed I Scream - I feel like this one outshone everything else on that record and should be regarded as Classic Prince. Perfect lyrics, perfect melody, perfect vocals, perfect everything.
19. Endorphinmachine - This is still my favorite rock track from him, and I think his best guitar riff to date.
20. She's Always In My Hair - Such a great, moody track. I love that although there are songs with similar sounds and effects in them, there aren't any that are quite like this one in his canon.
