Chances Prince Pulls Out of Billboard Icon Performance? Back in January when the Billboard issue with Prince hit stands, he said that he PLANNED to attend the Carnegie Hall Tribute only to not show up, there was a lot of back and forth speculation about whether Prince would perform at the BET Awards Lifetime Achievement Award in 2010. If Prince doesn't have a hand in the planning of the Icon performance/tribute, I can imagine him staying in Paisley Park. 3121 #1 THIS YEAR

Why?
Why would he make life difficult when there is no reason to so? 99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.

Have U completely 4gotten what happen prior 2 the Carnegie Hall Tribute? Why would he show up after being torn apart 2 shreads? [Edited 4/26/13 20:57pm] will ALWAYS think of like a "ACT OF GOD"! The Billboard are a much more formal thing, I think he will show, unless he is really sick, he will want the chance to show off the new band and pull off a few surprises for everyone. After his ovation at the Grammys for just walking on the stage, why would he miss out on a chance to perform? Prince is not really that flaky when it comes to performing. He's pulled out of a few shows obviously, but he's showed up to far more. My Legacy

Would U show up to a tribute where someone who humiliated U publicly & made U look like a pompous fool in the press attended & where someone turned Ur "masterpieces" in2 a joke? will ALWAYS think of like a "ACT OF GOD"! It was intended as a tribute, so many looked forward to the joy of giving that gift to Prince.

It was later reported that Prince did pay for the guitar to be fixed, snd the Carnegie event is over, so both are pretty much water under the bridge now. Maybe it is best people just chill and not create all kinds of speculation, based on their imaginary fears, on whether or not he shows up for the Billboards. How about just doing a 'wait and see' and let the Billboard event happen first? [Edited 4/27/13 7:11am]

You've said this before... I don't know why you continue to say that it was a joke. YOU WERE NOT THERE (I asked you, remember? You said you wished you were) "Love Hurts. Your lies, they cut me. Now your words don't mean a thing. I don't give a damn if you ever loved me..." -Cher, "Woman's World"

What the **** is your problem? You wasn't there to see the show, and to insult the musicians/artists who were there, and the young students who performed, because of the love of Prince's music, was not a joke. You wasn't there, so stop throwing stones and making up bullsh*t to satisfy your obsession.
You do not know why Prince chose not to show up. None of us do, so why not just leave it at that, instead of accusing people with your fantasized bs. You should know by now that the press will always be the press and often times, tend to sensationalize situations involving celebrities, to sell a story or to attract readers to their sites.

Eye was just giving a reason why he may not have showed up after saying he would attend. Like the original person that started the thread mentioned as if Prince was wishy washy . Usually if Prince says he is attending an event he shows up. Eye think the reason Eye gave was a valid reason 4 him not showing up. As 4 me calling the tribute a joke. I didn't call the tribute a joke. Eye said "someone" turned his "MasterPieces" in2 a joke not mentioning a name.
But Eye do apologize since Eye wasn't there if Eye offended anyone that attended please accept my wholeheartedness 4giveness......
Bilai's version of "Annie Christian" was incredible & Eye would have loved 2 seen it in person..

[Edited 4/27/13 12:15pm] Agreed. True artist appreciate him more than maybe he himself realizes. All the speculation to motives to me is child's play. It takes away from honoring his artistry , which to me is what it was all about. Nothing more or less. I think it is a wonderful thing to watch young and old honoring His masterpieces in their own unique expression and interpretation. We all know No one can even try to duplicate The originator and that's not what honoring is. Celebrating the gift of the originators body of work thus far through another ones own expression is a beautiful thing! And when u have a body of work like Prince or Stevie etc...It's cool to see the expressions of thanks and love for the gift. Especially within the youth of this generation! Lord knows they r starved the most for true musicianship!

All I want to know is this: Will there be a secret Prince show at a small club? I'm going to be in Vegas at that time.

I totally agree that "If I was your Girlfriend" was way off.........Mr. Rock?

I highly doubt it, although I think he should.
He'll most likely perform with the full NPG and probably without any guitar, like he did at SXSW.
What would I like to see/hear?
Both. If it's just two songs, one with 3rdeyegirl, and one with 3rdeyegirl+NPG... keeping his current look - afro and funky rock threads, and playing guitar, bass and keys... possibly also drums.
Show 'em who's Boss, P.
Just sayin'. "He's a musician's musician..."

He's too much of an egotist. He needs all the free pr he can get. All you others say Hell Yea!!

Agreed. Of course he won't show up under those circumstances. Most of key figures involved in this event should know him well enough to know that. Like it or not. Prince is more take it or leave it. The wooh is on the one!

I am 100% sure there is 0% chance of him pulling out.

Yey Giovanni, I like that 'afro and funk' phrase...'Afrofunk'
I saw the advertisement for the Billboard Awards on TV last night, and they showed a pic of Prince, and said, 'Performance by Prince'. So looks like he will be there. I also saw a vid a few weeks ago, where Shelby J was interviewed at that Atlanta show a couple of weeks ago, and she mentioned to the interviewer something like (paraphrasing) She " ...may be performing at the Billboards with Prince and the NPG" She didn't say definitely, just said "may", so you just never know what bandmembers he may decide to bring for that performance.

About the same chance obuma has at being re-elected for a 3rd term as president. A BIG FAT ZERO. Prince did an interview with a woman at Record World. They talked about whatever, then he asked her: "Does your pubic hair go up to your navel?" At that moment, we thought maybe we shouldn't encourage him to do interviews.
