This is a great post. I love both of them.I can picture some of these really well, but others would just be way too funny. Thanks for posting this. I really enjoyed it. Dreaming permits each and every one of us to be quietly and safely insane every night of our lives.

Supernova said: Someone humor me; why does Springsteen use that affected Southern accent in some of his songs? He's from JERSEY FOR CHRIST'S SAKE!!!
[This message was edited Tue Mar 11 0:12:13 PST 2003 by Supernova] I know what you mean, but those songs are done with country arrangements (slide guitar and fiddle), so he's staying true to the character of the song. He also adopted the same vocal style on "Darlington County", if you listen closely.

He also adopted the same vocal style on "Darlington County", if you listen closely. Not all of the songs I'm thinking of. Like "High Hopes"...a song like "Pink Caddilac" lends itself to a country vocalist though. It still sounds silly to me on some of his songs though. This post not for the wimp contingent. You're saying a ton of folks originally from New Jersey have Southern accents? Originally from and still live in New Jersey. I live closer to NYC now, so you'll find most of the folks in my area speak quite differently than in Monmouth county where I am (and Bruce is) origianally from. You could mistake some Jerseyans for southerners. Not all, but definitely the Freehold folks! -SWANGsays'yeehaw'

I love Prince, I've tried to get into Springsteen, but he has NOT made ANYTHING that catches MY ear...(& NO, I have NOT seen him live & will not) & just don't see or hear what the buzz is about in Bruce's music ...although, I'm sure he is a nice person.. John Couger at least ROCKS! FISH

Prince mentioned Bruce Springsteen when he was in Copenhagen for One Nite Alone. When the audience was cheering and clapping he said " stop clapping this ainĀ“t Bruce Springsteen" and smiled. Bruce had been in Stocholm a few days before the P concert in Copenhagen.
