Ubuntu is incredibly easy to use, and it can be used together with Windows. It would be good to verify if it's an OS problem or not...

People on Macs report the problem as well.

Windows and OS X are both DRM-ridden pieces of software.

Please contemplate that the next time you have to choose a new computer.

Have u guys tried ripping using any cd burning/ripping software? For me, when I have issues with WMP or iTunes ripping a cd, I usually use Nero or Roxio and the problem is solved.

For someone who has just said they aren't computer savvy I don't think Linux is an option.

You did not see a recent distro, it appears.

And if you are not computer savvy, what are you doing with the computer?

You create a selfsustaining problem.

People can't solve their problems, can't understand, can't decide what would be better, etc.

Are your kernel bugs solved within days?

I'm fine with it, just never needed to bother. But are you suggesting that people shouldn't have computers if they can't do much beyond the basics? I can't repair my car but I drive, you must surely use some things that you don't understand or have 100% knowledge of?

RIP sad

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

using another program to rip with, this won't help in this case.... ALL programs won't / can't read the cd in case it's a release from WARNER.

.

I have tried several other programs, other than iTunes and WMP, usually I am using Easy (EZ?) Extractor, and the mp3's were still distorted, after ripping...

.

I believe what Errant wrote: "It's the DVD read/write drive, not the operating system".

I wonder: if I get another DVD read/write drive if this will make a difference...?

.

so far the only solution is to do this (from post 7)..

.

"I experimented along similar lines to you, and found that in my case the best thing was to double click on tracks a long way apart repeatedly e.g. track 1, 17, 4, 16, 2, 16 etc. only allowing each one to start for only a split second. (I didn't need to close and reopen WMP.) After 10-20 of these double clicks, the drive played the CD perfectly; perhaps this disk-thrashing allowed it to calibrate itself to the correct layer somehow, avoiding all the noise put in by the copy control protection. I was then able to get an AccurateRip certified rip with EAC software. I just play the mp3s now, so don't mind if it's tricky to play the acual CD again.

.

Note: if the CD is stopped and left in the drive for a while, or ejected and put back in, the drive "forgets" how to play it properly and you have to go through the procedure above again.

Hope this helps others,

Bluto"

.

^ after following this advice, you are able to rip with eg Easy Extractor, (and I guess with iTunes - and others - as well).

.

I actually looked up the issue on several sites. It is a drive issue.

A general issue or an exemplaric issue?

An incident or a problem?

Please refer to said information so we can understand.
