How do you approach a like-minded fan?

Saw someone tonight in a relaxed setting with a prominant 0(+> tattoo.

"soooooo you like prince?" would be a bit lame, I am so shit at small talk. So I did nothing, i will probably see this guy again so it would be worth a chat but I am so shit.

Anyone else approached someone with a tat or shirt that gives them away?

i've met a load of fans under similar circumstances. in iceland, amongst the black forrest gataues and prawn rings for a pound i saw someone with a prince t shirt who was part way on the trip to MPLS. at record fairs i chatted to folks picking up prince boots and in some cases became friends for life to this day, and even made friends of their friends

so just go up and say "i'm a big fan of prince, i like the ink". don't call it a tattoo or tat as that's square people language. that would be like saying "do you want to get high" instead of "do you party" and they will think you are a secret undercover fan of the dead peado popstar trying to get some insider info like a daily mail journo talking to one of jimmy savilles co-"workers"

Tattoos are weird. Why do it?

I was (am?) obsessed, but not that way.

So:

Since when is a person with a `prominant` tattoo like-minded? lol

I mean: what is your context for reference here?

Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

Well..... your a fan.. How would u want to be approached??

I think as Prince fans.. Anything goes...

U see it at the bar ALL the time with fans of certain sports teams.

I do find it funny most Adults I see with fan memoribilia being worn are fans of hard rock bands..LOL.

There's a bit of irony there.

Most of us save our symbol neclaces and lotusflow3r Tshirts for Prince events where we are gonna run into each other anyways...

If I saw someone randomly wearing a moonwrap earpiece.. I'd definately be intgriged to strike up a conversation tho...

Sidle up to then and whisper in their ear,'The password is what?' U'll soon get an idea of whether they're fun or not.

I've got princes eyes tattood on my balls...

In all seriousness, I have the symbol at the centre of my upper back, which I like to keep tucked away, but for me, as lame as this might sound, I use Prince as my inspiration to work my ass off, there's a lot of things I wouldn't do like him, but his work ethic is unmatched to me. There's a gut in hmv by me who has the prince (2nd album) name on his forearm, I just said "nice tat" blah blah blah! Seen him? How many times? Etc and that's it, nothing more, we're a rare breed sp good to know there are others out there

I'm sorry is there some sort of cult type of shit going on between hard-core Prince fans that you need to learn their language to speak to them? (which btw I can totally imagine lol) Or is the OP just struggling to talk to strangers in general? Good luck if that's the case! Remember you're never too old to work on your social skills wink

Before you do approach just think, it might not be a like minded fan, it may well be one of the org me take. Just start humming Billy Jean and moonwalk quickly away. It's best to be safe!

Thank God my Prince buddies found me. I met my main one on a website discussing the Christchurch earthquake and from him I met several others.

Glad this happen as I am hopeless at openers and starters. Once you know me, thats when I start talking .

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name
