MoBetterBliss

here's what i'm afraid of

that the new album will have some great music on it... but it will have the life produced out of it... and the arrangements won't allow the songs to breathe

i really wish for this one (maybe more than any other) he'd just go into a studio with his band and a bunch of great songs, and let a great rock producer (with engineer) have at it

i honestly believe it would give him the best chance of making a record that would stand the test of time... one that although he might not agree with certain decisions at the time, he might listen back in a year or two and think "that actually still sounds pretty cool"

er

Lotusflower got pretty close to that. One can still listen to it all the way through. But...the two best songs on it are basically covers. So what I'm afraid of is that P comes up with a nice idea,(I'm your driver etc.) quickly writes a few verses, doesn't bother to write a chorus because that's too much work, so he just shouts the title a couple of times and then buries the whole lot under a buch of guitar feedback, distortion and what have you. (How many effect pedals did Donna have again?) On to the next song, don't worry 'bout what the crowd does, yeah that's a nice one, we can use that twice!
That's Prince these days: fantastic musician, great showman, but a total bore as a songwriter. Unless...we'll hear a full version of Down. That one gave me a bit of hope. He can still pull it off. Writing a true song about true feelings, experiences etc.

Is that outside the National Gallery in Ottawa? I was there last month and saw a sculpture just like it. Despite my insane fear of spiders, it was gorgeous!

So you're afraid it'll be just like everything since the Black Album?

What I'm afraid of is that he hasn't put out an album in almost 3 years and has a bunch of stuff that he's been hanging onto that could be distilled into a really killer album.

But like a fart in the wind, he recorded 14 half-assed tracks in two weeks with his all-girl band, muses-of-the-month at the beginning of the year, and that's what we'll get instead, with them each doing vocals on 3 tracks a piece and some cliches strung together as placeholders for real lyrics and he'll leave them that way because that's his idea of garage and indie and raw and punk.

"does my cock look fat in these jeans?"
