NO.
I really like a sticky per song.
Keeps a good overview, otherwise it's searching endlessly through one thread.
I mean, the threads with music really are more interesting than the other ones.
Is there really a thread that covers a new subject?
So, please, please, leave the sticky's for every single song. 99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.

Yes.
Allthough I do hope that he is sensible about his energy and listens to his body.
Can't have him tire himself out.
Besides that,
it seems he really is giving and showing himself in his songs and performances at the moment.
I really like that.
nonono,
I love that!

Yeah.. the things is my comment still applies. Perhaps this isn't THAT aesthetic. This perhaps Prince is expanding (and I think that type of growth is awesome) and experimenting with what constitutes "his Prince funk" or whatever it is. This set seems to be more rock driven. And great rock drummers and great rock projects can lack what you term "Funk" and still be great for the sound of the overall project like with Keith Moon or Meg white.
Her drumming style fits this group. And the group is killing it.
That's fine if you don't like it, but that kind of musical elitism that would describe somebody's artistry as shit because it didn't fit their personal vision of what music should sound like probably is more suitable alongside comments from European classically trained musicians who would dismiss jazz as not being real music either. Ok, I was determined that I was not going to like this song, because you just don't mess with "She's Always In My Hair". It's just, yeah, you don't mess with it. But I have to admit, after listening to it ... DAYUMMMMMM!!!
And the part that got to me the most, "That's a hard one to stop. Get all up in your spine. Run around in your solar chakra. And they just *suck in breath*, move and move and move up to the 3rd eye, and make you say, 'OWWWWWW!"
And I say, oh YES! | |

^I can see why you liked that bit, Pritty. Prince loves his spiritual mumbo-jumbo

Please describe the differences with e.g. the 1993 Rock over Germany version(s) of the same song. Not just the factual stuff, but also what you feel. Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

Michael B is BANGIN'! the snare, the hihat... THE KICKDRUM!!! The band can do what they want over such a beat! And I start to headbang from the first second on! I know for sure... NO DOUBTS any moment listening the song!.... ok, i gotta look for that CD... wait. and ok, maybe it's only 2'30'' or so... and you wish it will last 20min!

Maybe mr P does not want to spoil y'all. Maybe mr P just wants to give you a sample of what's in store.
Now what about that Rock over Germany version? Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

GuyBros has pretty much siad this but.... been bugging me so I'm gonna say it too - This ain't funk it's ROCK! But I listen to Prince for varity, not twists on the same, so having Donna there - wow!
I hope that Prince ignores the negatives and brings this to the UK. Keep it up and get looser, dirtier become real rock rather than polished studio perfect crispness. Read the interview recently posted with Susan Rodgers he didn't use to care about perfection, whatch Sound City (by Dave Grhol) amazing songs are recorded by accident not design - to quote "it should sound shit, but it works".
PS I hate genre-ising music!

The Dakota boot has a full version. The beginning is the best part.

The call and response in my opinion is for the actual crowd. But the opening is probably something everybody can dig. I was going to mention this earlier but you'll see a bit of similarity between the Dakota IV show. Where's that "cosign" emoticon? I'm specifically relating to the Sound City shout out and Susan Rodgers interview. I think what's more being related here is Hannah's drumming style and execution, and they aren't feeling it as it doesn't relate to what they liked in Prince's past works. Which is their perogative. Some people like Prince's work within a specific period. Some people only like the execution during the Purple Rain era (and Bobby's drumming to me also felt a bit more relaxed too). Some only want that "classice Prince funk." I don't fault somebody for wanting to want to hear something played in a manner they most enjoyed hearing it. That's their deal. A surefire way to get that everytime: kick the dust off of that record. Trust me, the show will be much more enjoyable without seeing the folded arms in the back of the room rolling their eyes. We get it: you're not feeling it. "I mean I always figured you were a trip at times, but now I'm beginning to believe you're a freaking vacation." -2elijah

I'm not impressed with it at all, but I do like the general direction of the performance. Raw arrangements, call and answers... it sounds more like good Prince music than what he was doing with the last incarnation of the NPG band. It sounds to me like in rehearsals they practiced a better version of the song, but during the gig Prince let his bad habits get the best of him, and on the fly, turned it into a jam session that teases but fails to pull all the elements together and climax. Modern-era Prince routinely over-estimates the value of an element or two in a jam session and forgets the song has to come together hard at some point or he wastes the listener's time. So at this point I guess it's safe to assume, the 3rdeyegirl concept is dead. It did not inspire Prince to the next level. They will be remembered as yet another Prince band with no plan, no personality, no identity, no hot jams of their own, who, during Prince's latter years, got by playing passionless, tepidly arranged cover versions of Revolution-era material. I thought this band was formed to rock. Instead they are just another conservative backing band formed for Prince to get some easy summer tour dollars. Enjoy FAMS!

This... This I LOVE:
"Criticism...criticism....don't like it... it's dead... BUT HEY, ENJOY IT GUYS!"
But we agree. General direction: pretty killer.

does not like the same things that I like.
