The Color Purple

I think it's just downright awful that Prince was never asked to contribute to this wonderful soundtrack and movie. Considering that Quincy Jones wanted Prince and Michael Jackson to collaborate, why didn't he or Spielberg ask Prince to contribute to this soundtrack. The hype from Purple Rain had just died. This movie should have been the sequel to Purple Rain. This would have been a perfect opportunity for somebody.

The difference being that The Color Purple was an amazing piece of work.

Purple Rain was nothing more than,at most,an averege movie which was a vehicle for the soundtrack

Much love yes Pochacco

You mean to tell me that you couldn't see The Kid's character written in one of those juke joint scenes. Harpo and The Kid could have fought over Miss Celie's Blues.

An excellent movie for sure and it still does make me cry when Celie and Nettie finally see each other after all those years.
Mister(Albert) was an SOB for sure but in the end he tried to redeem himself and do right by Celie.
But of course, who wouldn't, after she put that "chicken claw" hand up to him?? lol

I don't know about Prince and any coulda, shoulda, woulda...but this movie is a masterpiece and is just fine without him.

The Kid beat on Harpo, Harpo beat on Sophia, Sophia beat on Harpo and The Kid, and in between the babies keep comin'!

I love this movie. The lady singing her heart out to Jesus, the song and the scene, touched my heart...heart

Can't compare the two, Two different themes, two different era. How could this have been the sequel to Purple Rain, Like Prince says, "

What you putting in your nose, is that where all your money goes."

Just because both movies have the name Purple in it doesn't mean they have anything to do with the other.
How you gonna get my back when you fronting.
