What The Critics Are Saying... What the critics are saying about "One Nite Alone...Live!" done Rotten Tomato style ( www.rottentomatoes.com ):
[Fresh = 20] People Magazine - “Standing Ovation.” Newsday - Graded out as an ‘A’, “A treat from start to finish.” Sunday Mirror (UK) - Rated 9 out 10, “The purple one proves he still reigns.” Star Tribune (Chris Riemenschneider) - “Prince genuinely nails one out of the park.” French Jazz Magazine - “A monumental summary of this genius mixer-catalyst.” Ottawa Citizen - *** ½ (out of 4), “4 discs of purple glory all boxed 4 you.” Billboard - “Prince & the New Power Generation emerge spiritually reinvigorated and musically revitalized.” New York Daily News - “Disk 2, however, nails the vibe and reach of the best Prince shows I've witnessed in the past 20 years.” Reno Gazette-Journal - “As always, Prince makes being a musical genius sound easy.” Star Tribune (Jon Bream) - “This is about musicianship and spirit of the highest order.” Rated as one of the ten best albums of 2002. UPI - “One of Prince's finest tours in years -- deftly straddling the line between bold and crowd-pleasing.” Tuesday Morning 3 a.m. - “'It Ain't Over' is one hour-long groove, and a stunning one at that. The kicker is that he's making the best music of [his] career right now, and very few people are hearing it.” Rock & Folk - Rated 5 stars out of 5. No quote - Review not posted. Mojo - Rated 3 stars out of 5. “Prince can not only kick out the jams, but kick the shit out of 'em and then dance on what's left.” Q Magazine - 3 out of 5 Stars. Didn't copy a quote on this one and can't find the review now. The Louisville Scene - “Thirty-six songs provide more than three hours of music and one grand listening experience. The ‘hits’ aren't missed." Wilson and Alroy’s Record Reviews - “…but it does build anticipation for the collection's biggest treat, a disc of mind-blowing funk-rock jams culled from aftershows. It's the purest document yet of Prince's joy in, and talent for, playing, without any of the high concepts or head games…” Rated at 4 of 5 stars. Chicago Sun Times - “Still, for all his acting out and peculiar decision-making over the years, 'One Nite Alone..Live!' demonstrates one rock-bottom truth about the Purple One: He can still put together an astonishing performance. Which is precisely what he and his New Power Generation cohorts do on the 36 incendiary tracks here.” New Artist Direct - “He truly is one of the greatest musicians of our time, and it shows here.” Dallas Morning News - “The just-released three-CD set finds Prince in excellent form from his tour earlier this year.” Named 6th best soul album of 2002. [Rotten = 2] Vibe - “Barnstormers like "Lets Go Crazy" and "Purple Rain" were shelved in favor of extended jams as the hands of his slick, note-perfect band, the New Power Generation-people who are allergic to melody.” Maxim Blender - “Needed: career guidance for pop genius from Minneapolis” -- Reviews Counted So Far: 22 Fresh Reading: 91% -- If you know of other reviews, good or bad, excellent or horrible, please add them below. I’ve noticed several other reviews mentioned in passing, but they were never posted, mostly due to them appearing in non-English media. -- [This message was edited Wed Mar 12 3:03:44 PST 2003 by Brendan]

Thanks for the hard work you've done on this. It seems as if no-one else is going to add anything, so I thought I'd give you props for the work on this.
Some promotion based on this would be good, but I guess Prince doesn't do promotion now...

Some promotion based on this would be good, but I guess Prince doesn't do promotion now... Thanks. Much appreciated. I think Prince has long since moved onto his next project. And just as soon as he releases that one he'll already be excited about the next one or two or three. I must confess that it wasn't much work, though. All I did was spend a couple minutes cutting and pasting each time I came across a review. Which means about 5 minutes of work every week for 3 months. If I was thinking at the time I posted this I would've added a question or said something provocative to stir further communication. Because I didn't, I deserve a rotten tomato myself for execution.
