I was looking at the archived 1999 era threads by the amazing OldFriends4Sale and found this cool pic. I'm hoping it is from a magazine so I can physically own it, eventually.

I would say by the hair and the eye make up, its possible its from the late Controversy period rather than the 1999 period (Early 82 judging by the hair), but I could be wrong.

Its an awesome shot though, totally the sex mad Prince of the time and the pout.

Oh, wow! I never thought about that! I hope OldFriends can come by and give us info. The above pic and the one in the '83 rolling stone mag are my favorite pics of him . Sure is the ultimate pimp! haha

it's the 1999 period, that's when he started wearing the buttons to that degree, the fitted suite coats

that purple thing around his neck

It's weird how I've learned how to identify the look with the album period

during his Controversy period, he still wore the briefs and legwarmers, lavender colored trench and a black trench, he wore more baggier clothes, tuxedo:shirts, pants, vests, coats, ties, and he only had the buttons on his pants from the bottom to the knee (the band had similar stuff) multicolored scarf, jeans, lace arm pieces

1999 he had the full bottoned pants on sides and crotch, tighter clothes, JJ wore his black trench, the ruffled part on the lower pants, ruffled shirts and tux shirts, shiney purple trench, cloth purple trench, etc

This pic Purplemajesty posted is very similar to the Purple Rain look, ie the Beautiful Ones (movie performance suite)

I'll look and see if I have another copy of the pic from the magazine, I had it (back then) I believe one of the mags I had it in was 'Righ On?' and/or Rolling Stones

wow! I love Avedon's pics of Prince. Don't you like the one he took for Rolling Stone issue 394? The really amazing one with his matte purple trench and him making a circle over his crotch (again, not the reason I like it haha. I may be bi but Prince is to much of a rolemodel for me to lust for him).

There is something about the Avedon pics that are...idk, electric and omnipotent. Are these the only ones like this? If not, I'd love to see all of the ones from Avedon's shoots.

I think it is an Avedon shot, but I'm not sure, that's why I was asking the question... And, yes, there are Avedon shots of Prince that I like, but this isn't one of them (if it is an Avedon photo.)

I think it is, it is very similar to the rolling stone 394 one. I may be wrong though.
