Dont remind me... I have tons of VHS tapes, Cassettes, & Vinyls that i started purchasing back around 1988 I purchased EVERYTHING that i could find and i had a really great contact that seemed to get new stuff at least every two weeks. The internet is beautiful but, it sure diminishes the value of some things.

FragileUndertow said:^^^ I ran across boot Cd's in 1992, but the store was busted and stopped selling P boots In 1994 i came across more cds were $20 a pop! but they stopped carrying them too I found some in mid 90's at a super high price! I stopped buying because i felt i was ripped off 2001 i got the 3cd set Disposition that was an eye opener [Edited 3/30/13 21:24pm] yup totally agree, for me it started around 1993 and got crazy around 95-98, spedning hundreds and hundreds, so many CRAP live shows, awful shit that is useless now. Here in NYC it all started at Revolver records, but they would get raided ALOT so then Generation was the stop and Prince actually legend has it RAIDED them, but the thing i was more into was DVD stuff getting the beautfiul Experience or the Undertaker or TV appeances overseas etc...that stuff is still valuable, but a shitty recording of prince at radio city in 1993 2 cd set for $60 is not valuable not even to him. ^Right! I tried to sell some of that stuff on the Dutch version of ebay (marktplaats) but no one wanted them.

In 1990,I remember walking into a local 'mom and pop' record store in my area and seeing a ton of Prince bootlegs! I was shocked they had vinyl copies of The Black Album for $25...it was on a label called Erotic City Records. They had a 3-LP Lovesexy Tour vinyl set.....the Crucial vinyl album....the Chocolate vinyl album...and other goodies.
Needless to say,I walked out of there with my hands full

And an empty wallet! Yeah, it was real easy in those days. Boots were available next to official records. My first Jimi Hendrix cd was a boot I thought was an original LP. [Edited 3/31/13 10:27am]

I have brought bootlegs in the past, but am glad now that we can source them off the net if we want too - and it is much easier to store them on portable harddrives instead of trying to store actual discs (I am a minimalistic person these days). And also it is great as you can find things you may never have found before.
Also many of the bootlegs were terrible and not worth what we paid for them.
BUT back when I was collecting the physical stuff, it sure was wonderful to trade - I really loved doing that BIG TIME - swapping and sending parcels off over the world and making friends - that was mega fun - watching out for the postman !!!!
But times change I guess. Thank you Prince for every note you left behind 💜

In 2004 I bought the Gold Experience for like $30. I bought it on cassette tape in 1999 for a lot. Is po folk so that wa a lot at the time. Also I was a child, so any $ was a big deal. Tell me more about this torrent thingy?!?!!? I just have bought for real things only. :/ No matter the ©️, Paisley Park "official can never ™️ . He gave that to us verbally on Oprah in 1996. You can't take away from us, corporate. I mean O ( + >

I wish I could tell you about torrents, but I'm afraind I'll get in trouble. I guess I can just tell you that they are a way people share files through the internet. Use your google.

I didn't buy too many. Got a few vinyls, tapes etc. but to this day I've never bought one on CD. Found my first boots in about '86 and got into trading. That was a buzz. Swapping parcels all over the place, made some good friends too.

Yes I used to go the the Village in NYC and buy my prince boots! The most I spent was $100 on a double cd set of the 1990 Nude Tour Toyoko and $100 on 86 Price and the revoloution in Japan. It was their last show together. Still have them..a TON more.

I've spent alot on boots over the years, the main ones being about 20 vhs tapes from a guy on ebay that cost a bomb in postage and I don't think he made much if any money from them. It was all catalogued footage of all sorts and to my shame I've not even watched 10% of it.
Unfortunately I didn't get much trading done - I joined the Controversy tape trading network, but fell out with my area co-ordinator by being impatient and asking her to send something. Eileen Murton stepped in but the damage was done and I never did get those gems I was so desperate for..
My mate once told me about a bootleg he saw called at a market here called the Barras - I went down and bought it straight away.. I still have it, the first time I ever heard Crystal Ball was via that piece of vinyl and it was amazing to hear. Getting off the net is so soulless but admittedly convenient. I used to love going to CD & Record Fairs and trawl through the dodgy stalls for boots. Takes me back to 94-95 when you could pick up some real gems. At the time we thought it was Prince releasing some of the better quality ones because of the WB fallout. Whether he liked it or not those bootlegs managed to drum up some excitiement about future releases / rumors about what was coming next. I remember being so dissapointed with the Gold Experience after hearing the over-polished version of Endorphin Machine.

I probably bought 60 or 80 of them between 1991 and 1997, most of them overpriced and some that really SUCKED hard in terms of content or sound quality but it sure was lotsa fun A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/
