Favorite lyrics by album? Hey orgers,
As I am sure has been done before, I got intrigued to do this thread. If you want to participate and make this fun I am curious as to your favorite lyrics from each or most songs of the respective album your choice. I will start with Sign O' The Times.
"At home there are 17 year old boys, and their idea of fun, is being in a gang called the disciples high on crack and totin' a machine gun"
"I needed someone with a quicker wit than mine, Dorothy was fast" (And basically most of those lyrics after "My pants were wet")
"Hot thing... tell them you're coming home late if you're coming home at all"
"Juggling hearts in a three ring circus, some day will drive a body down to the ground" "When I am with you I have no past"
"Your face is jammin', your body's heck-a-slammin', if love is good let's get to rammin' "
"If I was your girlfriend, would you remember to tell me all the things that you forgot when I was your man? " ... Would you run to me if somebody hurt you even if that somebody was me?"
"I guess you know me well I don't like winter, but it seems I get a kick out of doin' you cold"
"She asked me if we could be friends and I said, Oh honey baby that's a dead end. You know and I know that we wouldn't be satisfied"
"We all have our problems, some big, some are small. Soon all of our problems will be taken by The Cross"
"If God one day struck me blind, your beauty I'd still see. Love's too weak to define just what you mean to me" "... well maybe not the ride!"
The more I listen to Sign the more I am convinced of his brilliant songwriting of this era. These lyrics are so clever and witty but so down to earth.
Any other songs from others albums you all would like to highlight?
Thanks!
