Songs that speak to you vs. songs that could be by you

All of us here share an interest in Prince. I'm guessing that most of us have to some degree an appreciation for the music and a connection to it. For example, there are certain Prince songs that nurture me and comfort me, and there are others that seem as if I could have written them myself because they represent my perspective. What are those songs for you?

Songs that speak to me:

Last December- it reminds me to live my life to the fullest and try to exemplify what it means to follow Christ every day.

Uptown- it makes me feel ok to be different and celebrate the diversity of the world.

The Cross- my favorite Prince song, it reminds me that my pain is nothing compared to the suffering of others, and that my faith will help me through it.

Songs that share my own perspective:

Something in the Water (Does Not Compute)- the pain that permeates this song, and culminates in that primitive screaming, is something I have felt on numerous occasions.

Anna Stesia- I often seek the love of a woman for comfort, and this song reminds me that it is God's love where true solace lies. My most personal song "Decay" is kind of a combination of both Something in the Water and this song.

Edited because I in no way will pretend to be capable of writing anything as powerful and meaningful as "Something in the Water" or "Anna Stesia."

Positive motivating songs for me would be "Rest of my Life" from the vault, and the song "Now" to motivate me.

I would love to write a song like "Nothing compares to you" for someone, or something with the expresivness of "Adore." I've written a number of songs for and about people and my writing style has recently become much more expressive.

song that could have been by yours truly?:

The Beautiful Ones... "the beautiful ones,they hurt u everytime...paint a perfect picture...bring 2 life a vision in one's mind.The beautiful ones,always smash the picture,..."

2 me,that particular portion of the song,speaks 2 me...
& speaks 4 the intimidation i feel around a girl or whatever...
that i can paint this perfect picture in my mind of one day living happily everafter...but finding it hard 2 even tell her how i feel.
& more than anything else this section:
"i may not know where i'm going...
i may not know what i need.
but one thing, one thing is 4 certain baby,
i know what i want.
& it's 2 please u baby please u baby.
I'm beggin' down on my knees,I WANT YOU!

as this is the way i feel 4 someone at the mo'.
altho i am beginning 2 know what i need & know what i want...
that ONE THING IS 4 CERTAIN...
especially when watching the per4mance in the PR film...
i can identify with The Kid's hunger in th epoint he is trying 2 get across 2 Apollonia.

as4 a song that just speaks 2 me...*GOD* (instrumental)
no words neccesary.

Why, indeed it was! "Aladdin Sane" is the album I identify with most by Mr. Bowie.
