"I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man" '82 Version?

I'm very curious about this version. Is it circulating among the fans or is it just in the hands of the secret circle of fans (that I call the Prince Illuminati lol )? Is there anyone on the org who has heard this track and would like to discuss it?

Doubt anyone has it. For all we know Prince may have recorded over the original tracks when he re-worked it in '86.

I'd love to hear it though. And any of the original versions of songs from then that he reworked over the next 10 years or so.

I'm imagining a Linn drum sound a la Something In The Water in place of the real drumming in the released version and my brain is oozing out of my nose.

I'm imagining something along the lines of the original 'tick-tick-bang' as far as insruments and tempo.

and before anyone says it, yes I know there's a lot of drum machine in the released version, but it's made to sound more like natural drums.

I would love to hear this version as well. If you listen real carefully through headphones, u can hear the original tracks. I imagine the original sounding a little bit like Little Red Corvette
