I think, with all due respect, you are the one with the problem.

I wish I could have seen your take, but did you do it because you loved the music, or did you do it so you could get adulation on the internet? If it's for the former, then you shouldn't be too bummed Prince took it off. If it's the latter, you shouldn't be surprised that Prince took it off YouTube. As a Jehovah's Witness, idolatry is something he doesn't accept.

If you're that big a fan of Prince, you had to have known by now that he takes down all of his stuff posted on YouTube. That's no secret. I don't agree with what he does, but I know that he does it.

I'm sure you put in hours of work on that, and I hope you were happy with the finished product. Judging from the comments on the Artists forum about it, you obviously did a great job.

But Prince being Prince, all he (or his people) saw was a copyright issue and he apparently has the law on his side. He certainly has YouTube on his side because they take down everything he asks them to.

There are other video forums you might try, if you're looking for feedback. But if you are a good enough musician to have played all the parts on that kickass song (except, I understand, the drums), then you are definitely good enough to be playing that song and others in front of audiences.

Prince can't stop that, and if you haven't done it before let me assure you - playing in front of an audience is the best thing ever. Positive comments on the internet can't compare to live applause.

Best of luck!

He wears a symbol of himself around his neck. Come on Greg. lol

LMAO, that's just a sign of self-confidence! smile

Well, it's not that his place is covered with pictures of himself on the wall, now, is it?

I mean, if one is to be a JW, all regiments have to be obeyed to. So, he would not have all kind of images of himself all over the place, nor would he get upset when he would not get idolized.

99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.

The classic Americanism is to resist oppresion and fight for freedom.

What you point to is rentseeking oppression.

Freedom for the elite bankers of Godman Sachs and their ex-employees that hold the vital positions at the governemental financial departments, you mean?

Or the freedom for power ridden, money grabbing elite to rob the rest of the world, by working the system cleverly? Knowing that their friends at the government will never hold them accountable, so they will never get sued or punished and be free to continue, without any consciounse, shame or ethical awarement to rob the rest of the world?

Both need to be fought.

@ eoin

I was asking myself the same question "what is Prince trying to do with his fans"?

What's the trouble?

I wonder, I've thought about it, IMO, I think that he wants the audience to forget about his previous style, about his previous beats and rythms, because he wants to turn a page and he's looking for other vibes..

I also think that he wants to catch a type of audience, maybe younger people, that'swhy, the members of his actual band are very much younger than him..

Maybe to prove that he can't stick to any kind of music..

Beside, all that, he keeps going on with Andy Allo, another kind of style, I should say: same same, but different.. closer to his own

The way the orgers of nowadays, new members write and express themselves also, show that they aren't around 35, 45 years old, their maturity isn't on the same level as the fans to the core, who've been following him since his almost beginning.

I really think that he's trying to renew his audience.

I'm sick and tired of the Prince fans being sick and tired of the Prince fans that are sick and tired!

firstly, sorry if this has been said -

and I would love to hear your version of 777...

but you just cannot remake someone's song and post it on youtube without the author's permission - you could potentially be profiting from the song (potentially is the word here), its that way for anything - music, books, art, it belongs to the author and he/she should have some control over how that person's material is used publicly. For example, you cant remake a Beatles song as a recording to be sold on CD without permission, you might be able to play it live without permission but that performance cant be recorded and sold. When you put stuff on youtube its freely available yes, but SOMEONE is profiting, and that's the point.

Look at google putting loads of books online "for free" without author permission, not selling them and indexed on their search engine - they say its a public service - but they are being sued, because at the end of the day it makes google a better search tool and ultimately they profit!
