If you want to go just by "household name", it could be argued that Carmen has had the most successful post-Prince career.

HAHA I mention carmen earlier.. She has worked constantly for over 2o plus years.. Very sucessful.. So, I'm trying to get how Prince became a career killer. Urban legend thats not valid

Earlier discussed difference is that Prince's camp was more popular chart driven with outlets such as V6, A6, Carmen Electra, and others. He had his studio musicians for some of those productions to finish the touch (good grooves or let's say "If A Girl Answers..."). Similarities with Miles' and Zappa's work is that as a musician, you have to be on (Steve Vai explains it in the 2 posted videos). In Susan Roger's recent interview she tells about Prince's instruments which were always plugged in whenever and wherever for recordings. So were his hired musicians basically, directly ready to deliver. Drummer John Blackwell received fines when he missed a beat on shows, in the late James Brown routine. Difference is that it was indeed just about musicianship itself with Miles and Zappa. Their demographic wasn't that much focussed on image driven media exposure.

prince miles and zappa padwans are all respected in their genres

prince past bamd members are far more famous than miles or zappa but probably less respected as actual musicians

Mr Blackwell was a great drummer before Prince found him and Jimmy Jam/Lewis were successful at the same time as Prince was so I'm not sure what we're talking about here.

"Gone on to great things" and "working in the business" are two different things.
