Around The World In A Day Artwork.... Have a look at this if u will, I found it via the www.housequake.com site. It looks like the cover we all know of 4 the album we all know, and yet again it doesn't.
According 2 what's mentioned on the site of the make Jim Warren it seems this was made before the final artwork was made 4 that album. Has any of u got more info on this?? i had never seen it before myself!!! Around the World in a Day Prince’s management contacted me to do this painting. They gave me little information other than a one page sheet with thirteen instructions on it such as, "...a fat man hugging a tiger," and "...two men with hair shorter on one side, playing the tambourine." I had a few questions but was told, "...use your imagination." So, I did. I enjoyed the freedom he gave me with the painting and felt that it made for a great collaboration between artist and musician. Halfway through the painting, I was told that Prince wanted to see it in Cincinnati, Ohio. I explained that I wasn’t finished and the paint was still wet. They explained further that the first thing Prince wanted to see when he woke up was my painting. So I boxed up the painting, put it in the airplane in the seat next to mine, and we (the painting and I) went to Cincinnati. Two bodyguards came to my room and picked it up. The next day, it returned with simple instructions: "Finish it." I did and was told he loved it. http://www.jimwarren.com/prince.htm [This message was edited Sun Mar 9 4:28:12 PST 2003 by serpan99]

Wow...he has a nice website. I have seen his work before, but didn't realize who the artist was.
I wonder...why doesn't Prince thank people for what they contribute to him? ("The next day, it returned with simple instructions: "Finish it." I did and was told he loved it.") The man did drop everything he was doing and rush off at Prince's command. I guess that's why I will never work for anyone rich or famous. No matter what position you hold...you still deserve to be treated with respect and simple common courtesy, regardless of how much money they are paying you. Okay...sorry...I am off my soapbox...I don't know where that came from... If U set your mind free, baby, maybe U'd understand...

I like it 2, although I prefer the final artwork as the album was released better. Try and compare both if u got the time 4 it...there's actually quite a few similarities between the 2 of them...

This one looks too much like a generic photo montage. I prefer the one actually chosen for the album cover, its more stylized and interesting.
