Prince Marathon: Imagine playing every Prince Album Back to Back? that was officially release and songs he released during his various websites to the songs of today thru 3rdeyegirl....That would be some Prince Marathon. I wonder how many hours and days would that take up? Imagine a Prince Woodstock at Paisley Park or somewhere!

I've done that. not in a few years, though. Can't remember how long it took. Did it mostly in the car and at work (outside, in the summer).

Several times a week I put his entire collection on random... Never hear the same mix ever... and its sooo hard to hit stop and get back to the real world sometimes

Playing the albums from a certain period (say, the 1980s or the 1990s) during a weekend is something I quite often do. I'm not one of those people that can listen to just one artist for a prolonged period of time though.

I used to do that on Prince's Birthday for many years. This was a long time ago. And yes, it took two whole days (including boots).

Would really get boring after doing it all these years and not really listening. For all time I am with you, you are with me.

Prince albums 1978 to 1988,
I wouldn't mind that kind of Prince "Marathon"
However, post Warner would be like a nightmare,
so many peaks and valleys, and so many weak albums too.
imho.. Prince 4Ever. | |

I recently did play every Prince album back o back. It was an interesting experience for me, because I ended up realizing every problem I have with Prince's recent music was there in the 70's and 80's too. The flaws aren't really flaws as much as they are just part of his method as an artist. When he was younger he was better able to balance his strengths and weaknesses. As he has aged he fell into some bad habits, but still is an incredile talent. I ended up liking The Gold Experience more than any of his other albums, even though I think a lot of it is cringe worthy awful. "Warm it up Kris". Regardless it was always entertaining, and I had several spit-take moments while getting reaquainted with it.

The several times I've done this, it's NPS, Rave and those NPGMC-era High/Peace tracks that nearly derail the whole experiment. But then that's the same stuff that nearly derailed my being of fan in the first place.

I've only played controversy through Batman back-to-back, and over a series of days if I can recall.
I would never be able to do that now, considering how much I skip tracks, and the fact that some of those albums desperately need remastering---hell, even the remastered 'dj' versions are only a stop-gap.

I did For You to Graffiti Bridge (without side-projects, songs given to others and non-album tracks) once back in 1990. Now it would take so long even if playing only the "Prince" albums that I wouldn't even consider it. I think my full collection of released material would be something like a week, without sleep A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

Now Imagine playing Jack White Albums back to back.
Which is a better? To make a thief, make an owner; to create crime, create laws.

sorry but that would be torture. I could do it with the 90s stuff fine but the rest would just be torture that I could not do. 80s was hit and miss and dont care for the 70s and 00's I am still trying to fill one solid cd's worth of songs for a best of. getting close though for the 00's. Playing them all back to back may make me never want to listen to him again so I can't do that!!

Yeah, I had to reread the first couple of sentences several times because they seemed just so odd.
