Feeling Fortunate I'm feeling fortunate that after 30 some years I still get enjoy the music, style and energy that this man brings to the people that love it. It is fine to be critical if you feel the need but the real question is: Do you still love the music?? I can honestly say that the diversity of musical styles that he has put out this year has been what I have wanted for years!! A little old, a little new, a helping of funk, a dose of rock plus some acoustic too!! The new band is cool! I'm not a musical guru but it looks and sounds like fun to me:) Keep it coming!!!!! Prince is the last TRUE rock star!! Enjoy!! [Edited 3/3/13 16:09pm]

I love you and completely agree. Especially after fallon and hearing Prince has some upcoming dates i just can't wait. Hopefully he downgrades for his next concert to like a theater sized venue to get that truley rock and roll feeling.

This is what I was hoping to read before signing off, because I totally agree. So nice to read a positive perspective It's a great time to be alive and be able to listen to and watch, our modern day genius in motion.
Imo Prince makes the most amazing music of any one on the planet. Combined and together with his creative versatility, Prince's music can take away some of the harshness of what sometimes feels like a cruel world. He can make us laugh, cry, feel silly, or even courageous simply by the way he sings his lyrics or instructs his sound. He's like a jewel that shines through the mire.
I guess I don't really have thick skin or much tolerance for all the negativity, so I'm glad I picked this thread to read before signing off. The goodness that Prince creates imo, far out weighs any criticism I hear. Meanwhile, I'm loving that we are still receiveing gems from the Man who continues to give us what no other musician can. True, loving, Funk

I have to agree with you. I have been into this dude since 1979 and he does get better and better. What I have always loved about Prince's music is that you really never know which way he is going to go musically. For example, in January, he performs at the Dakota and it was a full tilt Jazzfest. However, here we are in March of 2013 and the boy is rocking out and keeping it so sexy. I love the "3rdeyegirl" marketing. If you are a true Prince fan, you have to give the boy prompts in keeping it fresh whether you like every piece of music that he writes or not. "A united state of mind will never be divided
The real definition of unity is 1 People can slam their door, disagree and fight it But how U gonna love the Father but not love the Son? United States of Division"

I Agree!!! The theater setting lets everyone share in the energy and message of the music. Back in 2006 I had the opportunity to see him at the Empire Club in Vegas and it was truely an event I will never forget.

Cool post!! No doubt he is part of the soundtrack of our lives! I guess that is part of what keeps me coming back for more. Whether it is sorrow, joy or love, he has experienced it as well. Behind all the money, clothes, women and fame is a man searching and trying to find his way thru life. The only difference is that he can express those experiences in way that others get to share. We are all on the same adventure in one way or another:)

The marketing is great and I hope he hangs with it for awhile. You're right he never ceases to surprise, whether you like it or not:D))))

Thank You for this truly positive thread... it reminds me of Princes' theme song 'Positivity.' Instead of walking away from us, Prince embraces all sides and continues to provide new sounds and songs. He shares lots of fun with everyone who wants to join the ride. Thank You for putting into words what many feel about Prince and all the music he's given us.

I agree. I also want to add how fortunate we all are to be around in this era where an artist of his stature, regardless of whether you like his current output or not, connects directly with his fans through twitter and YouTube outlets through the likes 3rd eye Girl. I mean seriously. We take this stuff for granted but how cool is that? Later generations are going to miss out on this future and anticipation thing. It's all developing right in front of our ears and eyes. Not to sound too corny, but we are all incredibly lucky.
