Your daughter has good taste, but you must be aware listing her favourite songs are not going to change the minds of the naysayers on this site. smile

I don't know. Using "Breakfast Can Wait," in their closing arguments could have a sweeping change among Prince naysayers everywhere. Somewhere Bart Van Halen is finally getting it, and sees the light, and thanks OmniBuss' daughter for changing his life, and he can get along with KCOOKMUZIQBOOBOO, and praise all of Prince's output since 1989 for once.

It's a good list. Apart from Breakfast Can Wait and Chocolate Box, I love all the songs on the list but then again I've never been one claiming he's lost it. I still very much enjoy the new stuff.

Letting your daughter listen to a monstrosity like Chocolate Box will not be good for her in the long run.

forcing your child to listen to anything from "now" on is child abuse ..

kids love all sorts of horrible crap music .. a real parent would encourage good taste in their child and banish all of prince lack luster later work so as not to dilute the childs pallete with what consists essentially of a sugary cereal comercial jingles .. the child likes chocolate box and breakfast can wait for the same reasons they like all those cartoon rabbits on trix are for kids comercials .. they are about food ... sugary cancer causing crack addict food at that .. prince might as well be writing a song about frosted flakes .. I bet your kid would love that too

I don't think it's fair to compare anyone to who they were years ago. I don't believe anyone is truly the same person they "used to be". People grow, people change. What Prince records now may not be the same music as when he was in his Purple Rain heydays, but he's still trying to produce good music.

Having said that, in resonse to the OP, my 3 year old and 8 year old daughters can be heard singing "I'm your driver, you're my screw" in the truck when Screwdriver's playing.

No offense but what does an 8 year old know?

Im not downgrading his current or recent pat material but come now..lets not usetoddlers and preadolescents as baromoters or litmus tests.

8 year olds aren't toddlers.

Weren't we all preadolescents when 1999 came out? If not it certainly could explain some if the current grumpniess some people are displaying, they're just getting old. lol

What? eek

No. I'll pretty soon qualify as middle-aged, but I was a toddler when that one came out.

edit - oh you must mean "preadolescent" as in "younger than 13" in general, not just something like 10-12 years of age.

No offence you to or your child, but the opinion of an 8 year old when it comes to music means nothing to me. If you had've said this is your 80 year old father's list, I would've been impressed.

Having said that, I do like all of these songs! razz

This list should have been posted just as a list of your daughter's favourite Prince songs and not turned into an attempt to "prove" that Prince is still "as good as he used to be". It would have been cute anyway.

How exactly does a list of songs your 8 year old daughter likes, prove Prince is is as good as he used to be?
