'Wally' was not about Wally Safford, it's just that the song included a monologue by Prince as though he's talking to Wally Safford.Apparently Prince was in some serious need of emotional support during one of his breakups with Susannah when he recorded this.

And yes, who wouldn't love to hear the original version that was purposely erased by Prince?
