Prince revival? No. But respect is being paid!

I was in Brighton (UK) shopping in all the cool funky shops. When I notice a young girl (approx. 16 years old) wearing a pink retro Prince T-Shirt. I just said to her "hey like your T-Shirt", she replied "thank u... I love him, he's the man!"

Now I know there's a kinda 80's revival thang goin' on, and kids are wearing chessy retro t-shirts just as a fashion statement (80's bowie, Madonna, Duran Duran etc) but this girl really meant what she said.

It just made me realise that although P will never be as huge commercially as he was. He's moved in2 that James Brown area of respect! Not sayin' he never got respect. But Prince has kinda gone full circle and is becoming 'cool' again.

In the 90's there was a 70's revival now in the 2000's the 80's revival.

If he does Glastonbury I reckon' he'll put the cherry on the cake!

The fact that there is a rumour that Prince will play Glastonbury and that the promoters are keeping quiet about it, suggests that Prince is being paid respect.

A few developements, Basement Jaxx covering Erotic City; the ONA shows at Apollo and the Marquee, a BBC Radio 2 documentary hosted by Mica Paris, the UK release of The Rainbow Children at the end of the month; the Controversy remix being played all over London clubs, as we speak.

IF Prince did play the festival, he will absolutely tear it up with his new band. Can you imagine Whole Lotta Love for the Glastonbury crowd? Can you imagine an NPGMC aftershow afterwards? It will be the highlight of the year, Prince knows it.

I absolutely agree! I SO hope he plays Glasto.

Althought cannot see there being an aftershow... (unless it's in Micheal Eavis' farmhouse!)

Yeah - confusion about the aftershow! I mean, there's lots of places in the festival itself he could do it, but not as it is being advertised (ie just for members).

If the aftershow is in London, well there won't be anyone from Glastonbury going!! One, it takes AT LEAST 3 hours for the public to get off site and that's just at normal times - from early hours Sunday morning after the festival has "officially" finished (it, of course, doesn't really wind down for another 12-18 hours!) to Monday evening it can take anything between 4 and 8 hours to get off site. Its then a 2.5 hour drive to London.

Bristol could be a better place for an aftershow, but you still have the problem of actually getting of the site - something Prince, in his expected helicopter, will not have to go through!
