How does your kid feel about "Sexual Suicide" and "What's My Name"?

That just sounds wrong.

Yeah, I know.

Sorry, if that was in bad taste.

Seriously though, I'm of the opinion that kids that young do not need to listen to material like "Lady Cab Driver" or "Screwdriver" to begin with. I think it should be possible to pick some of his songs that you can play your kids and leave some others out. Just like you don't want your kids to see everything by your favourite film director or actor either.

I don't know...I was 6 or 7 in 1982 (not sure what time of year it was) when I first heard, and fell in love with, "Little Red Corvette" and "1999." I then bought a cassette that had "1999" (the album) on one side and "Dirty Mind" on the other. Although I knew the naughty parts were naughty, I had no clue what they meant...nor did I really care. It was the music and the passion that grabbed me, not the nastiness. Although, yeah, that was kinda fun too once I was a few years older.

No confusion, no tears. No enemies, no fear. No sorrow, no pain. No ball, no chain.

Sex is not love. Love is not sex. Putting words in other people's mouths will only get you elected.

Need more sleep than coke or methamphetamine.

Wasn't that Controversy and Dirty Mind on that combo cassette? 1999 was 70 minutes long, and although tape technology would have allowed those two on one tape, it would have been thinner tape, making it very likely to break...if my limited memory of tape technology is intact.

I was 3 when I first got into Prince (1983). The sexual content went over my head for about 8 years before I finally understood it. biggrin I just dug the music and Prince's voice.

I don't let her listen to everything. She hasn't heard Gett off for example. I innocently didn't think anything was wrong with Lady Cab Driver. I was in two minds about Screwdriver but I didn't get a reprimand from my wife. I initially thought the clean version of Sexy MF was ok but my wife instructed me otherwise so that hasn't been played since.

Temptation got played a couple of times in the car before I banned it myself.

She has the video mix of Partyman and the extended version of Kiss on her own CD which both have a bold word but I let that slide.

We recently been listening to the Grease soundtrack in the car and I've noticed that Grease Lightning has TWO bold words!
