I notice it's only available as a mov file, whereas Screwdriver Live was offered as an option of mov file or mp4 file.

Has anyone verified that it is indeed the file that was previously seen on the 3rd Eye Girl YouTube account and not some alternate recording?

I seem to have uncovered the pattern to when 3rdeye updates. Apparently they do it each time on the day I don't bother to check there!

I think 3rdeyegirl.com is just a format testbed for the main website he's going to open, I think he's just chucking stuff out in various qualities and formats and seeing which ones are the most popular and which ones cause problems.

And if that's true (which it might not be) Prince Wav for audio and this for video would do me great

So stick with those two formats and the price,7 songs and 3 videos and I havn't even spent a tenner

Original audio is 93k, new one is 122k with all the same crackles etc, as the original one.

To be clear, it is the better quality audio of the two by a hairs width but it looks like all the problems in the first release were problems with the master recording. There's loads of crackling in the left side, the same problem exists in the Screwdriver vid and it's really distracting from the great music.

What really bothers me is that Prince has a history of releaseing sub optimal quality stuff online, his music deserves better. Does anybody remember when the NPGMC sold The Beautiful Experience TV special on video? It was a recording from Japanese TV, I can record off the telly myself and already had a better copy than what they sold! When I'm getting stuff straight from the artist, call me fussy, but I expect it to be spot on.

Agreed, except it's not just the online stuff. I was just having this discussion with a friend who is also a longtime fan.

Granted I'm not an true audiophile nor do I have top notch equipment. What I have found is that some of the older material sounds much better cranked up than most stuff from the mid 90's on.

Someone needs to tell him to turn it down from 11 back to 10. Seriously though it seems like those recording meters are pegged in the red. Too much clipping!

Yes the levels are lower and the eq is flat on the older recordings but for example the original recording of Bambi kicks ass cranked up.

Purple Music did a great job with RRLA and Screwdriver imo. They are so much cleaner and sound great at a high volume compared to the offering at 3rdeyegirl.com.

Hell I've been big on seeing his older work get remastered. Guess it's one of those "be carefull what u wish 4" senarios. LOL!

I may have to pass on this release for the fact it's no different than the already released youtube video. Still happy material is flowing!

It would have been cool to release this in full w/Screwdriver long as one video. Then release the 2 as separate vids if needed.

yeah, i think i'll pass on this one.

the only good thing about this video being posted, to me, is that it might

be a sign that they will put everything we've seen on the 3rdeyegirl tube

being offered in the store now.

a good quality version of "same page, different book" would be great.

i'd even buy the "laydown" extended version if the sound was good and

the format was once again wav.
