Well, you have to remember that even though Mariah Carey is one of the biggest stars in the music business, she is on the tail end of her career, and she was appearing on the show as a reality TV personality and not the uber diva she once was. In fact, Jimmy asked her if she had ever recorded anything with Prince, and she said that she had not, though she would love to do so. Now as much as I love both Mariah and Prince, if she ever tried to work with him with that diva attitude she has, he'd say, "Bitch, please," and laugh her out of the room.

Finally got to see it... WOW!!! He seriously JAMMED Bambi!!! Screwdriver was ok..not a fan of THAT song but I love Prince...love his voice in Screwdriver just not the words. Absolutley loved Bambi!! Even my 4 year old grandaughter was jamming...but she did say he sounds like a girl..lol!!

Performed this way, I don't see a huge "quality" difference between the two songs. "Bambi" might be the better song in the end, but "Screwdriver" is the more "in your face" one. Certainly it's more punk and Prince handles that approach a lot better than those faux-punk acts like Green Day, Avril Lavigne or whomever they might actually let in TV these days.

There's already plenty of "old song - great / new song - bad" responses on this thread. They seem almost automated by this point. We could just as well have a bot that posts them to each thread that is about a new performance, a tour and so on.

P.S Prince looks like he's gaining weight. His face looks fuller.

Like mentioned in the other thread (by me and and another orger) he didn't necessarily intend to break the guitar.

It looks like he tried to throw it to someone standing in the audience like he usually does. The cable wasn't long enough, so the guitar got pulled back mid-air and ended up on the floor.

I think if Kirk really is pissed then Prince needs to make it up to him. It would be a dick move not to. But, I have no idea how much of this drama is real and how much is just to get people talking so, I'm not gonna worry about it one way or another. What I do know is that it was cool to watch, expecting it to be caught as usual but instead seeing it crash to the stage, and then Fallon and the rest reacting to the act and to the sustained sound that resulted from it. Priceless.

Getting all butt-hurt mad at Prince on Kirk's behalf is just silly, no?
