What about "The Beautiful Ones"? Mariah recorded a version of that with Prince singing in the background, so I would guess that she's recorded with him. Her version is okay, but Prince version is best by far.

CORRECTION: Prince is NOT singing in the background on Mariahs awful version of The Beautiful Ones

[Edited 3/4/13 8:39am]

Correction noted, but I could have sworn that I heard Prince's voice on that song. omg

Performance totally kicked ass. Nobody shouting at the top of their lungs as a crowd flunky, no over saturation of keyboards cuz their were not any.

Screwdriver: Other than Prince's corny singing of the word screw...performance was spot on. The girls are growing on me. Prince's playing was great, and even though the song is not my favorite, I like it a lot more than I did two weeks ago.

Bambi: Too many on here have already given this its due. Wow!

Just watched it and... it was great! The fro and dark outfit and the 3rd eye art all work with the simply crunchy rock.

thumbs up! The fro sealed it.

PS... my girlfriend noticed the crazy popper stopper sunglasses that go up over his.... "third eye".

I never realized the glasses fit the concept. But she pointed it out.

Anyone else catch Damaris Lewis in the crowd at the end of the show when Fallon ran up into the crowd?

I wouldn't know Damaris Lewis if he or she was standing in front of me. Who is Damaris Lewis and why am I supposed to care?

She is a model that travels around with him and dances on stage as well. Some articles state she is also his personal Muse. Whatever she is I know she's a hottie.

1st time I saw her was on the Africa Channel special. She was also in Chicago at the UC and HOB shows. Forgot the Kimmel Show during Dance Electric too.

I thought it was interesting for the fact that for someone not in the his band she sure seems to be wherever Prince is. I'm not into all that tabloid rumor garbage about who he's dating. I just have noticed how much I see her when I see Prince anymore.

I delayed watching this deliberately. After a final view, I realised the following: the fools suggesting that Donna and Ida were off beat, or that Prince gave a menacing look to Hannah, were being foolish.

The timing wasn't perfect on Hannah's behalf, but c'mon when was the last time Prince had a drummer that would whack the kit in such an aggressive manner? Late 80s with Sheila? They weren't playing TRC / Musicology era type of material and as far as I can tell she's adding quite a lot of energy to the performances. Most drummers are going to mess up once in a while when you're playing in that manner (not Sheila E. though wink )

Musicians invest way too much into their gear. The money usually goes beyond the purchase of the instrument itself into personalizing its hardware and electronics.

I think Kirk should sue the mess outta Prince. Prince has filed suits for far less justified crap.

If I'm understanding you correctly, that was Kirk's guitar (Fallons house guitar player) that Prince threw up in the air and let slam to ground? Maybe Kirk told him it was ok to do that? Or it could have been all staged, he plays a guitar Prince gave him before the show to make like it was his and then later get the guitar fall to the ground? lol If not, if that was really Kirk's guitar and he didn't give him the ok to do that, well then that was really trifiling of P to do that?!? lol eek

Captain Kirk Douglas isn't just Fallon's house guitar player, he's guitar player and sometimes vocalist for one of the best bands in the world right now, multiple Grammy-winning hip-hop group 'The Roots'. lol

Sheila is human yall, so she messes up, Prince does too

When she was on percussion at the 06 Brit award show on Let's Go Crazy she was totally off

But her rendition of Olivers House last year was HOTTTT, a swetty workout

I've noticed her performances haven't been that great with some of the recent TV appearances at the very least. A few years ago she was on Letterman playing a drum kit - which is not what she does that much anymore due to her injuries - but it was a very underwhelming performance.

I just noticed something. I finally got around to listening the bootleg Purple Bowl by The Roots performing a Prince covers show. Looking close at the bootleg's cover, it looks like Kirk is playing the guitar Prince smashed.

Maybe Prince didn't like The Roots doing a cover show and this is way of dealing with it?!?

Naw, couldn't be...

confused

EDIT: I don't know how to post pictures, but anyone intersted can Google Image Search The Roots Purple Bowl and it will be the first picture that comes up...

A few thoughts in response to some of y'all. All the women r new in a new band. They'r still getting to know each other, with Ida having been there the longest. Donna is truly enjoying herself and is smiling onstage. Prince needs this type of positive vibration around himself. As for the drumming, she is playing as the song was laid down, with her own flav.
