Poem by.... Prince? Dr. Funkenberry Spreecast 2/6/2013 Poem given 2 Dr. Funkenberry by Prince (?), 2 recite on 2/6/13 Spreecast (co-hosted by Seth Everett): "Like The Sun In The Sky, There’s 1 In Ur Heart. We’re Supposed 2 B 2gether, And Not Apart. Counterclockwise, U Got 2 Turn Around. Then, Nothing And Nobody Can Bring Us Down. Eye Know U’re Smart, Eye Know U’re Fine. But, U Got 2 Look At How We’re Designed. Sometimes, U Need 2 Let Go. Sometimes, U Need 2 Unwind. Sometimes, U Just Got 2 Loosen Up. Loosen Up Ur Behind And Let It Move, Just Let It Move. Listen 2 The Music, Listen 2 The Sound. Spin The Same Way The Rest Of The Stars Spin Around. If U Keep Going The Way The Race Cars Go, Ain’t No Way Tellin’ Where U’ll B, Only Heaven Knows. There’s A Reason Even Time Spins That Way. If U’re Always On The Clock, U Can Never Stay. U’re Supposed 2 B With Me, And Eye’m Supposed 2 B With U, Cuz Eye’m Ur Driver, And U’re My Screw."

i suppose there are several titles of new songs in this poem, like "only heaven knows", that's a new song, right?

it's hardly a great poem though, is it? this reads like something a 16 yr old writes in a journal.
i wish prince would draw from a more personal inspiration and write about a bit ore serious and personal stuff.
this kind of stuff is cool enough for two or three songs but he's been doing far too much of this the past decade.
i wish he'd write more lyrics like those on "the truth" or songs like "reflection"

Sorta reminds me of the PR lp poem

the snow piled on my guitar as we slept beside the fire and all the wannaB musicians $old their works 4 hire 'till adam closed the emerald book and U got up and danced up & through the fiberoptics boasting 2 B all enhanced my lushious chocolate neuron shining brighter than the sun as the world basks in Ur glow - the revolution has begun
instead of writing about yet another lover, yet another gatekeeper/360 contract or some pseudo scientific ramblings, i'd love to see prince actually write more about his own experiences in the last couple of years, about his personal life or his doubts and anxieties etc.

except the PR lp poem is about a million times better

So basically he's the screwdriver to loosen up all these tight screws? Maybe the song isn't as sexually based as people thought Prince may be the purple Yoda, but Wendy & Lisa and Eric Leeds also sit on the Jedi Council.

lol well ya of course
Prince was touched with something supernatural then, even the misspellings worked
the anals of my mind? is that one of the funny lines?

hmmmmm...interesting The greatest live performer of our times was is and always will be Prince.
Remember there is only one destination and that place is U All of it. Everything. Is U.

It's Freaking Hard To Capitalize The First Letter Of Every Single Thing You Type.
Unless, of course, you type everything in Microsoft Word and then use the "Change Case" option. Zing! Gotcha, Prince! Now I know all your secrets!
But yeah - I'm guessing there are several song titles in that poem. Just like there was in "Cause and Effect" (which, upon recent listenings, is a TOTAL JAM).

New Game
Find the song titles in the poem. Guess the nature of the song.
I'll go first...
Title: "CounterClockWISE"
"There’s A Reason Even Time Spins That Way. If U’re Always On The Clock, U Can Never Stay."
All taken from the poem

Pretty trite. Would probably make for lyrics to a serviceable funk jam. But then I imagined it being backed by the music from Life O' the Party about halfway through and it was ruined.

Spoken poetry in motion will ALWAYS think of like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that wasn't of this earth, would not have been that surprised. R.I.P.

Yeah most def a collection of song titles. Reminds me of Prince's rap in Push, which also featured in the D&P album sleeve. Could he be hinting at an album release?

I wonder if the poem is for a specific person or that it's about a general phenomenon.

Dig if u will the picture - of u and I engaged in a kiss.
The sweat of your body covers me. Can u picture this, my darling?
An ocean of violets engulf our persons. A bird screams. At 1st, I think it's u And u thought it was me.
Oh if only violets could talk. Insecurities. Do u know who u are?
Then it doesn't matter who screamed 1st. Did it matter who ate of the apple 1st?
The end result was negative. Can u pass me the pepper? Why, because u told me salt was bad 4 me.
I thought u liked eggs? I thought u liked me. Well, eggs are the only thing I can make
besides a baby. Why do u look at me like that? What are u thinking? I know u better than u think I do. There's this purple suspicion that lurks in the anals of my mind that u and
I are alike in more ways than 6. Can u relate? Oh yeah? Then what's the difference between a beautiful man
and an ugly man with money? Nothing - As far as you're concerned.
Do u still want 2 spend the night? Good. Come on. U said u would wash my
hair. Shall we go swimming 1st? U can't swim. Wonderful. I'll teach u. "I'll teach u 2 swim. I'll teach u 2 try. I'll teach
u 2 laugh, but not 2 cry. I'll teach u 2 trust me when u think I lie. I'll teach u 2 love me until we die." It's from a song I wrote. Do u believe that? U do? Well, I lied. I just made it up. Pretty good huh. It's not nice 2 lie. I think we're on the right track. Shall I wash u 1st or shall u wash me?

I think it's about serious and personal stuff.
I think it's symbolic.
But if you want to read it as if it's about teenage love. Than, that's okay.
That is the great thing about poems.
It means what you think it means.

Prince & Poetry is just like Michael & Music (Bird of a feather, they'll stick together)
Originally, the term masterpiece referred to a piece of work produced by an apprentice or journeyman aspiring to become a master craftsman in the old European guild system.
His fitness to qualify for guild membership was judged partially by the Masterpie
