you tell him, oldfriends4sale especially since i think rd is full of shit and I remember when he posted on npgunderground.org back in 2007 that there was an easter egg hunt on the under the cherry moon dvd in which he stated that there was a color version of the film on that dvd....TOTAL B.S. and its obvious that he expects us to fall for anything.

I think just theater success and sales in this case says a lot about how good Purple rain was over Under the Cherry Moon
but I like Under the Cherry Moon, but it isn't better than PR
definately 2 different expressions of the genre,
Purple Rain has some mystery, danger, much more 'excitement' and the almost similar to real life edge that makes it good |

When I saw UTCM at the movie theater, I thought it was going to be bigger than Gone With the Wind based on the crowd response. The theater was very full and the audience exploded at just about every laugh line. I thought the place was going to collapse at the "wrecka stowe" and "cabbagehead" scenes...I mean people looked like they were unable to breathe and gasping for air and needed paramedic assistance. The scene where he writes "F--k You" on the check...the audience exploded into cheers. I heard several people sniffling when Christopher was plugged by Mary's Dad. Leaving the movie that day, I firmly believed Prince had a blockbuster on his hands. When the movie completely tanked, I was absolutely shocked.
Of course, the crowd for Friday the 13th Part 6 was just as explosive if not moreso so maybe I don't have much of a point. All good things they say never last... |
