Alright, we don't agree on anything then. So the answer is: nothing. Let it come. Overflow us with The Vault Vols. 1,2,3,4,5.&c. Until even the hardiest diehard dies a slow death from purple overexposure... Well, al least you had fun! music dead

Since we're hypothetically speaking here, do these vault releases come with, let's say, a booklet or anything that puts it all together chronologically?

Or is that too crazy?

I'm firmly planted in denial

I understand why you would feel this way...but this song makes me laugh.

Honestly (and I am not saying that it's a worse song than "Work the P") I've never understood the love for "Moonbeam Levels." It's not bad, but it doesn't make me grin ear to ear like, say, "God Is Alive."

highfive I feel the same...Moonbeam Levels is WAY overrated.

I think "Moonbeam Levels" is a great song, but I'm glad that Prince replaced it with "Free" on the 1999 album. Some of these vault songs just don't fit the albums they were recorded for.

I'd have preferred Moonbeam Levels, since I love that track. Free, on the other hand is barely worthy of release, so I'd say I disagree.

Oh hell to the nizzaw!!!!

We could put the rainbow children back in the vault, that whole album should be buried in quicklime.

But yeah don't get Our Destiny and most of his early 90s jams like Schoolyeard and Work that fat need to go to go the fuck back.

WHATTTT??? Our Destiny? I love the live version 6.7.1984 and the Lisa Coleman version (she talked about some of the work on it on her face book) Our Destiny is a 1984 song

U 2 R banned 2 the cornfields

I just don't get it! Sorry, its kid of alright but Our destiny has way 2 much love.

Oh my ass came back from the cornfields cool

There's Others Here With Us is one of the most experimental pieces of music he has made. Calling it "cheeseville" misses the point pretty damn badly.

Experimental? Are you serious? I must go back and listen because in a million years this word would not have come to mind. lol

See even songs I don't like make me want to hear more vault stuff.

For example one of my least favourite tracks Prince has ever released is Sex In The Summer.

However the original song Conception that was the story of a sperm on the way to an egg over the sound of his child's heartbeat now that is a track I would love to be released. But it still doesn't make me want to put Sex In The Summer back in the vault.

I'm a big fan of Prince's overal process and artistic development so even if there's something I don't think works on an album i'd still rather hear it than not.

Moonbeam Levels is one of the most wanted tracks from the Vault for sure.

I hope it will see the light of the day like Empty Room did , no matter that a few people don´t see the beauty of that masterpiece.

I can't believe some one mentioned the Whole 'For You' album, along with 'Others Here With Us' Y'all crazy!

Some of the songs that should have stayed in the vault? UMMM...Considering that LIKELY (Not Saying he doesn't create create new music...Now Obviously he always creates new music) But, sometimes it seems as if he pulls a song out of the vault (Demos, ideas, basic track, etc) and adds finishing touches to them.

How do we know; what he wanted to KEEP in the vault? As they were just leaked? OR maybe he leaks them? Maybe he did not want to release 'There Never B Another Like Me'; although that seems intended. Haha.

I guess my question is, since he did not officially release some songs; Like 'Work That Fat' when it leaked. (Of course he could not release everything he made due to the over flow of material) How could we say it should have stayed in the vault; if he did not intend for them to be released?

So I am having a hard time answering this question..lol

BUT I do have songs, I wish did not leak at all, because it just sounds unfinished etc, that would have to be better unreleased. He has released songs, that make me question, whether he really was serious when he dropped them. A song like 'Poom Poom' sure it's funny, but why did he release it? Songs like that, should have stayed in the vault. lol

I actually like the Carmen cd even though I thought her live act during the D&P tour was crap. One of the very few cases where I prefer the album to the concert.

Get on up is really a great track, 4 those who don't like Carmen...the music is enough smile

The songs that should have stayed there have already been released LOL...I'm thinking Cloreen Bacon Skin and Poom Poom and most of 20TEN!

I think his best work is unreleased because it expresses more his pure, raw private feelings and not his polished commercialised persona.... I love those songs with a conscience like Inalargeroomwithnolight, Spirit, The Voice Inside and The Voice.

If i had to go to a desert island and was given the choice of his released work or his unreleased work (so far only on bootleg) I think I would choose the latter.....

I think all of them should be released but as audio files (u can argue among yourselves about which format!) as a download bundle or as data CDs.

Then they can be bought by the fans and some of the more naff/out-of-date and downright rubbish ones can be kept from the masses, but still enjoyed and given a home by the true fans like us lot.

********************************

I've got them all as crappy bootlegs so why not in hi-def - imagine a pristine crystal clear version of 'Hey U' pumping out your sound system!
