Prince always had great catchy melodies in his songs.Even his weaker albums had great vocal hooks,for example Emancipation is Prince at his melodic best .In recent years i notice a trend of Prince producing songs with lazy singing one note melodies.Songs like Screw Driver and RNR Love Affair are almost melody free.i wonder why.Do you think he is lazy at making a decent vocal hook or it's just a phase like the Lovesexy era when his vocal hooks were minimalistic,but never like now days
