Sometimes It Snows In April question Friends, has anyone tried to remove the vocals from Sometimes It Snows In April and to what success? I realize I shouldn't try to mess with a masterpiece, but I would like to enjoy an "instrumental version" of the original. Any programs I should check out that would allow me to do this? Any tips? See, part of me wants to tell you to face the wall for the day in your pants. Another part of me would love to hear an instrumental.
I'm trying to learn it on the keys, it's a gorgeous song. Chords on it are lovely. They cripple my hands a bit but not as badly as I'll cripple yours if you so much as think about stripping it down again... There, I said it. I couldn't help myself and I apologise.
Nope. I've changed my mind. Break it down, it might be really good.
Nope. Changed again.
Stand in the corner in your pants. I'll get back to ya.

Thanks, Fonkyman. It's a gorgeous song, indeed. Actually, my favorite part of the song are the long sighs in the intro. Gives me the feeling of the person (Tracy) passing and exhaling the soul from the body. I've been looking for a program that will allow me to reduce, if not remove, the main vocals. It looks like a complicated task. "I like to watch."

I forgot about this. Sorry if I'm a bit late. You can stop facing the corner now.

It can be done with an audio editing freeware Audacity.

Good luck with that.

Thanx. I'll have to check that out. Hopefully it's not too terribly complicated. "I like to watch."

Audacity Vocal Removal and Isolation:
http://manual.audacitytea..._Isolation
I really don't think Audacity will let you strip the vocal track from a recording though.
Not properly. Unless you have the master recording and even then, you wouldn't go anywhere near Audacity. Maybe with a decent parametric or spectrum analyser you could hide a lot, then edit a kind of instrumental remix but you wont get rid of the vocal track altogether. Not without taking a lot more along with it. I'm no engineer so it aint gospel by any means.
I'd like someone to prove me wrong here but short of Merlin turning up with some spells to cast I can't see it being done with Audacity.
You can have a go, just remember I'll be along to snap ya fingers if you manage it.
