I've been laughing my ass off about this for the past day or two, y'all are unreal. Prince isn't performing at the Grammy's, I would've thought it was obvious that the video is simply recorded "live", and will go live today.
With Music's Biggest Night quickly approaching, it's time to think about finalizing your to-do list for your official GRAMMY Sunday party. Snacks? Check. Favorite beverage? Check. Dessert? Check. Internet bill paid so you can stream GRAMMY Live? Check. What's in store for GRAMMY Sunday, you ask? Plenty. The star-studded performance lineup for the 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards has a bit of everything — the music comeback of a six-time GRAMMY winner, first-time artist collaborations, a tribute to an American legend, GRAMMY debuts, and generous sides of country, rock, pop, and hip-hop. Plus, the GRAMMYs are guaranteed to be cool with two-time GRAMMY-winning artist/actor LL Cool J serving as host. It's a lot to keep track of, so we've compiled a handy alphabetical guide to artists who will be taking the GRAMMY stage. Of course, be sure to stay logged on to GRAMMY.com and follow our liveblog to complement your GRAMMY experience and join the conversation. And the performers for the 55th GRAMMY Awards are:
The 55th Annual GRAMMY Awards will take place live on Sunday, Feb. 10 at Staples Center in Los Angeles and will be broadcast in high-definition TV and 5.1 surround sound on the CBS Television Network from 8–11:30 p.m. (ET/PT). The show also will be supported on radio worldwide via Dial Global, and covered online at GRAMMY.com and CBS.com, and on YouTube.

I can already tell this video is going to be a trainwreck. Prince is dead center in the gas chambers, not one of the girls is going to tell him that they think the video & dance is terrible.
But youtube comment section will. [Edited 2/10/13 14:32pm]

Prince hates all his fans equally. He has an hour and 22 minutes to get the video out or he's lied to me. RIP

I hope not! I hate when presenters do that. It's so lame. Diano Ross, Beyonce and Mariah Carey have done that. We don't have to be reminded that you sing.. 3121 #1 THIS YEAR

The red carpet starts in 15 minutes. He didn't say it'd be up before that. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

There's still hope for a surprise finale performance. I mean, look at the line up. The Only decent choice for a finale is Alicia Keys and Maroon 5.

Maybe they can pull it off with out it being cheesy If they focus on Prince performing show the dancers before the song starts or after it ends
I'm more interested in hearing a full live version of the song my self I will take my place, In the great below

I was being sarcastic Somewhere in one of these threads some one mentioned him busting into song while presenting an award I will take my place, In the great below

I'm having visions of the 1994 VH1 Honors performance of Endorphinmachine, with the Vegas-style choreography and feathers.
Which was fucking awesome.
But. I don't have high hopes if they're doing a dance called the "Screwdriver"

No, but he did say the 10th and he has precisely one hour left. RIP

It seems pretty obvious that the video was pre recorded live. You can tell the dancers are walking towards the sound stage and Donna is walking towards the studio. TRUE BLUE

I just heard that Prince and Skrillex are doing a duet together, part of the Grammy's 3 year plan of pairing old and new artists (boy that never gets old does it?)
That ought to be better than the standard Travis Barker playing drums to some old rappers trying to be cool.

I think it is odd we find ourselves w/ one of the most influential entertainers/musicians/composers looking for approval in a video w/ a dance routine to entice the young viewers. I guess we will see the reaction soon enough. I still haven't heard the remix yet.
I wonder how many times Prince has screened this video for himself. I don't want a rock version of Jughead.

There is no other explanation. Dance routines, fog machine effects at paisley park studios, dizzying cast of supporting female musician roles (distractions) he is trolling all of us.

So the video will premier right before grammys start? What are you outraged about today? CNN has not told you yet?
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I think we can gain an idea of how many people are excited about it by looking at the view numbers on youtube for screwdriver teaser. 13k and counting, what a surprise when you put out a video and title it "Screwdriver Live" Who could've predicted this reaction?

Acording to drfunkenberry SCREWDRIVER LIVE" will debut on PRINCE2013.com ahead of the Grammys I will take my place, In the great below

Just a quick head count, how many here have said to a friend,"don't miss the premiere of screwdriver this Sunday!" ? I bet you maybe Eyejester & that is it.
This isn't 1983 and this isn't "Thriller".
