Would you buy mediocre vault tracks @ 88 cents each?

i had my ipod on shuffle and 'The P' came on, so i skipped and 'My Tree' featuring the almighty Robin Powers came on, fortunately, i just finished doing the washing up so chose not to endure it. Got me thinking though, what if Prince decided to put up even songs like those two. Is there a market for these?

I don't think i would personally, i'd be a bit selective.

Can't see this happening, but you never know. smile

If "Believe" taught me one thing about myself, it's that I can and will get myself all hot and bothered for a 90 sec random Prince jam from the middle 80's. So let me give the answer HELL YES.

Even if it was just the unreleased material that's already widely circulating, but in perfect quality (possessed, neon telephone, Moonbeam Levels, Baby Ur a Trip, etc), I'm pretty sure I'd pay every cent.

Big difference is they're all A+ tracks, the two i mentioned were D- or worse.

In perfect quality and lossless yeah. I wouldn't buy an mp3 of 'My Tree' considering we have it great quality any way, and it's "mediocre".

Well In your opinnion they are D- I have to say I love The P & My Tree/Positive Place, But that's the reason he's great almost everything is loved by someone smile

Think about an outtake collections like Jewel Box excluding released songs 42 tracks of varying quality. It would cost at $0.88 a track $36.96 (£24 GBP) all in perfect quality

There are people who have payed alot more for what is a collection of varying quality from bootleggers so I'd have no problem buying it straight from Prince classics, mediocre and duds alike.

1 - Lisa

2 - Vibrator

3 - A Better Place To Die

4 - U Call Me

5 - Extra Loveable

6 - Purple Music

7 - Possessed

8 - Do Yourself A Favour,

9 - Chocolate,

10 - Electric Intercourse,

11 - The Dance Electric,

12 - All Day All Night,

13 - G Spot,

14 - Manic Monday,

15 - Old Friends 4 Sale,

16 - In All My Dreams,

17 - Baby You're A Trip,

18 - Last Heart,

19 - Expert Lover,

20 - Crystal Ball,

21 - There's Others Here With Us,

22 - Data Bank, Moviestar,

23 - She Want A Place In Heaven,

24 - Girl O My Dreams,

25 - We Can Funk,

26 - Neon Telephone,

27 - Power Fantastic,

28 - Can I Play With U,

29 - Wonderful Ass,

30 - Sexual Suicide,

31 - Eternity,

32 - Crucial,

33 - Rebirth Of The Flesh,

34 - If I Love U 2nite,

35 - Witness,

36 - Cross The Line,

37 - Alphabet Street Blues,

38 - Welcome 2 The Ratrace,

39 - Cookie Jar,

40 - Murph Drag,

41 - Good Man,

42 - Your Love Is So Hard,

43 - The Grand Progression,

44 - Schoolyard,

45 - Glamslam 91,

46 - The Flow

Also ask a selection of fans which ones are the duds and which ones are classics and you could get with the exception of a few universals a vary varied list.

At $0.88 each, yes.

I say that because some supposed duds might sound better with improved sound quality or if the circulating songs aren't the actual finished mixes. and I'm assuming that there's a lot of music that I haven't heard yet, some of which will likely be amazing and others not as good.

But at a higher price my answer will be no. There's definitely a point at which I'd be more selective.

Just done the maths and all 34 Discs of Work It 2.0 (562 tracks) would cost $494.56 (£315.79)

You know less than a £1 a day for a year.....mmmmmmmm I would have to seriously think about it but the answer would probably still be yes.

I will buy nothing that is not Lossless. MP3 is a GARBAGE format. Completely worthless. Otherwise I would pay for most of the 80's vault. However, it should be noted that supposedly the leaked tracks are only a small portion of the vault, so there would be a reasonable curiosity factor with the prime vault years .. Prince would have to pay me to listen to any of his recent vault material tho. Those 80's vault songs are pretty much gold .. I have no doubt there is more great stuff to be heard.

Speaking of that, I find it a bit weak/annoying that you can't have a listen first on 3rdeyegirl.

I am definately not going to buy endless streams of weak/mediocre songs just because it is Prince, especially not if they are just mp3. I will pay happily for good quality songs in wav format.

Don't complain. The NPGMC was selling tracks to members for 0.77 cents a track.

Heck, that means the price has only jumped by 0.11 cents smile

I'd pay $37 for that. In nothing less than 320k/s mp3 though. I would prefer flacs but 320s will do. I think you're all getting your hopes if you're expecting any of the classic vault material though. I'd like to be wrong, however.

Keep your headphones on.
