I'm OK with it.
There's a lot of Prince songs i like that seem to be widely despised by the fanbase: Undisputed Face Down Poom Poom Jughead My Name is Prince Dance On Positivity What's My Name (LOVE this tune) And then there are others that EVERYONE loves, but never grabbed me in any way. Particularly: - Empty Room (most overrated Prince song EVER) - A lot of the ballads, which all sound the same to me: Scandalous, Insatiable, Do Me Baby, Condition of the Heart, Adore, Slow Love, When 2 r in Love...There's precious little difference between ANY of these songs. Same beat, same tempo, same lyrical content... - Digital Garden - It - Tamborine ...and so forth. I think this is the result of Prince being so good at so many different things - so many different types of music. He's SO versatile and experimental that he's bound to alienate certain tastes that are predisposed to particular syles of music. Some (especially the ladies) dig the "ooh, baby" tunes, others the Hendrix driven guitar style, and others the hip-hop funk of "Days of Wild" and such... I'm OK with Jughead - a silly, shake yo ass one off, but I prefer "Live 4 Love" | |
