TheEnglishGent said: Agreed! I would like to know beforehand in which format(s) a song will become available. I want the best possible sound quality, and it would suck if a song was mp3 first, then flac or wav download became available, and then suddenly the song appears on a new CD album! Don't want to be forced to buy the same songs over and over again.

Since nobody is forcing anybody to buy anything, I assume you mean, you don't want to be tricked into buying the same songs over and over again...

If you like to put it that way: yes cool

Glad I wasn't the only one who noticed there are some very subtle differences. Bought it from Amazon but being a quality whore when it comes to Prince I'm gonna have to buy the .wav from Purple Music too. Still fits my budget. LOL!

Edit: Just purchased from Purple Music. Got an email confirmation. Order shows as pending and I can't download? Is there a delay before being sent the download ID they are requesting? It's almost been 1/2hr. Just curious.

[Edited 2/4/13 9:51am]

I got the email and access to download immediately. If it says the order is pending, perhaps your payment hasn't been approved yet?

I got a reply from their customer support and they told me the site is being overloaded. I finally did get the email with the link to download but now the site seems to be down. doh!

It's up now. Downloading now.

Got mine from Amazon. I love him but I just dont get this hit and run style of promotion for new music. This is a single that deserves a major label backing it...not an indie label. But in his purple majesty's words "til the day that we're through.....

Why use an iphone for serious webbrowsing?

Plain firefox 18 on my little PC worked fine. biggrin

I believe the iPhone is not capable of playing wav files, this might explain the file shows up as "invalid"...

So, let me see if this is correct I've bought the iTunes/Amazon mp3 version which is a single edit.

I haven't bought the Purple Music version which is the same length (same mix?), and an uncompressed wav file.

I haven't yet bought the 3rdeyegirl.com version which is also a wav and is the lyrics video version (slightly different mix?).

3rdeyegirl.com also has a remix. Is this right so far?

Just somewhere in the middle,

Whoehahaha!

The most basic form of audio is unplayable.

What about flac, ape and such?

The joys of the walled garden 'app store'.

Oh dear. wink

I like the track. Nothing groundbreaking but it is nice.

My 32GB iPhone is pretty much full with mp3/m4a. Why would I want lossless formats on my mobile? I'd only be able to hold a fraction of the music and with little headphones lossless isn't really necessary.

It's easy enough to make an mp3 using desktop iTunes, right click, create MP3 version.

RIP sad

You can't add a card?

I am willingly very unfamiliar with certain properties of the iphones.

We don't use itunes.
To make mp3z we have lame.

But we prefer flac as it's better since it's lossless.

I do hope you can use nice earbuds and play flacs.

I do like the tracks!

All music on my Mac is lossless (aiff) but converts to AAC for my iPhone. Lossy is perfect for mobiles but horrific through a stereo.

As for purple music, no replies to two emails so repurchased from home and it was fine. Prefer the video version though. It rocked harder.

Who's we? I can play flac as well as any other lossless format and I can use nice headphones at home.

Delivered product the consumer wanted, so I bought the lossless from 3rdeyegirl.com.

I dont hear any difference between it and lyric video at least for these worn ears, just quality is better.

Both WMP and VLC show this track as 4:12, maybe I missed out on a second of silence.

I'm being told the Purple Music & 3rdeyegirl wav files are the same track. So, I just bought the other 3 from 3rdeyegirl since I bought Screwdriver yesterday from Purple Music....

Would love confirmation on how many different versions and what the differences are. If the 3rdeyegirl version is not the same as Purple Music, I guess I'll be buying it too.

I think Charlie Brown was out trying to get a Christmas tree. That kid with the green shirt in the back looks like he's doing the Running Man!
