That may be the best bass playing I've ever heard on a Prince jazz? track.

The rest was cool, too.

have heard this one too many times. kinda funky this time. he gave up on just my imagination too soon.

None of this stuff that has come out latley has the Prince edge.

This sounds just like every other jazz/hiphop crossover group that is around today. There's nothing Prince about it.

This and Chapter and Verse are both not very funky. Prince's style is supposed to be distinctly funky. He used to have musicians that were able to play this way (Levi, Brownmark etc) but now (and for the last few years) he's been recruiting the generic virtuoso players that have all the usual pro licks and lines but don't get the Prince funk style.

And Screwdriver is just boring.

I really loving what Prince is doing lately. I can't wait to hear what he does with his new girl band. Very excited atm. I could listen to the instumentals / jazz improvs all day..

me too! they obviously have great recordings of all shows so instead of snippets of tracks

he should just release them on his site. i'd pay for those shows, no question.

plus, these live shows, if released on his site to buy, would in no way interfere with the

plans he obviously has for screwdriver and driving it further by more promotion (there

was another video shoot for it last week wasn't there?)

i like it as a tease. but stop that sax player. Frankly after Maceo and Eric he should be careful who he lets solo. that sax sounds like every good sax player out there. Not great.

Better then the punk rock act, IMO
