I just realized...

The reason I've been drifting away from Prince is his tendency to suck the soul out of his latest gems... This gorgeous demo that leaked out today courtesy of Andy Allo will no doubt be butchered by plastic presets and bombastic mastering at some point... Too loud, too precise, too harsh...

I wish he realized that certain songs need a "mood" more than they need a chorus or a furious guitar solo. This new "U Will B With Me" has a heavenly mood... it's humble, fragile, beautiful, it's ready. Let it be as it is...

Then again, if P decided to release this lo-fi demo, I guess there is hope.

He slaughtered "Guitar", which sounded deliciously quirky on the demo and ended up sounding like U2 on steroids... At this point I think I'd love him to just release demos and forget the rest.

Regarding all these releases of late, and the absence of an actual album... I do wish for an album that makes for a deeper listening, a coherence, a purposeful sequencing, otherwise it's too random for my taste. An idea would be for P to invite fans to produce their own versions of an album out of the source materials he's giving away... I'd be well up for that.

I'd include, among others...

U Will B With Me

Love is a Losing Game

Guitar (Demo)

and the most precious lost gem of them all... The Grand Progression (not a clean version, the fuzzy version that circulates has way more mood...)

Yes I agree....U Will B is very special due to its raw/natural/ untinkered with spontaneity!

I also agree with you about Guitar, think I preferred the demo as the released version sounded too much of a rip off of I Will Follow by U2. However, did like the guitar solo on the released version.

The Guitar demo was awful. I was shocked and sad when it was the first single. After I heard it, I absolutely loved it. Yeah, he took U2's I Will Follow's guitar part, but still the basis of the song was really nice. Love is a Losing Game isn't his song, so nothing to say about that... and you list U will b with me, but that's the song your topic is about in the first place, so you are WRONG to "Include among others"

The Grand Progression remains unreleased, even though it would have been better than Graffiti Bridge in the first place, but since it never came out...moot point.
