Purple Rain + Fame? Came across this dvd while thrifting yesterday. A Double feature of Purple Rain and Fame. Who knew? Feeling lucky, the completist in me had to get it. For $ome rea$on,WB felt compelled to team the$e two movie$ up..lol Other than both being made in the early 80's,(Fame may have been 79')..i don't get the link between the two movies. Anyway,it's set aside waiting to go with any other weird ,odd,or funny Prince collectables i have.
If you have any strange items in your Prince collection.. what items would fit in the "other" category?

Actually the pairing makes good sense. Both were hit movies for WB, hell FAME did well enough to spin-off a TV series that ran for several years if I remember correctly. Both are hit live-action musicals produced after the genre became non-existent or scant in Hollywood after its long life as a very popular genre from the 1930s up to (I guess?) the 60s, though FAME was more Broadway traditional inspired while PR was more MTV-inspired. Both also came out within a few years of each year.
Besides what did you expect WB to pair PR with, GRAFFITI BRIDGE?

That's a terrible idea that surprisingly WB/TV didn't try to make happen back then. Yes follow "Prince" (played by completely different actor) and the shenanigans of the Revolution (played by different actors) on their road to Hollywood. It'll be like THE MONKEES for the 80s.
Might as well try to do a cartoon like they did for the Beatles back in the 60s. (Yes keep producing toons with the boys and their moptops even though they moved on to long hair, facial hair, and real drug trips.)
