I liked UTCM better than PR because it was funny, Prince was sexy as all get out and the beautiful settings. The b&wness of it annoyed me at first because I really wanted to see it in color but over the years, I've come to appreciate the classic movie aspect that it lends. I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

There is music in almost every scene

I can't choose between the soundtracks but the film's better for the laugh. "We'll be landin on the moon in three minutes".

It's an hour and thirty or so minutes long, but it's a 2 hour movie for me when I rewind and replay my favorite bits and pieces. Funny and beautiful. .

2 very different types of movies, coming from 2 very different places, Purple Rain was more closer to real life
If Under the Cherry Moon had band scenes it would have made the movie 5 times better
If Prince left the directing alone it would have been 5 times better
I love Under the Cherry Moon, but Jeromes & Prince's characters are too much like Morris & Jerome (PR) Christopher & Eddie M a pianist and sax player would have been interesting, Christopher & twin sister (Jill Jones) pianist & vocalist, 2 players

Interesting thread subject. This has never been discussed before. "Climb in my fur."

I agree. UTCM was maybe more than a little uneven, but the humor was spot on for me. Also, with the exception of Kristen Scott Thomas, there seemed to be chemistry with everyone else. PR didn't come off to me like that. PR had better music, again to me, but everything else was subpar compared to the b&w goodness of Christopher Tracy's 1986 parade on film.

PR is the best rock movie ever made! Cherry Moon is good, PR is just iconic and special. Still love it to this day

If not buying his new music makes me "not a true fan". Then not having seen UTCM by now, should get you
I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

This is true.
If folks havent seen the purple trilogy, they should not even post until they do. "Climb in my fur."

Guys,
In due future I will make sure to get audio and tv etcetera in my house.
And as soon as I got that all set up and working, I'll get his latest music and the trilogy.
Does that promise make you guys any happier?
Am I allowed to hang around here, till I've got myself fully organized at home?
And I really don't mind not to be considered a true or good fan.
Just being me, already is a good enough identity for me.

You can lurk and everything, but you should not post until you see the trilogy.
You see..most of yall here nowadays on the org..HAVE NO FRAME OF REFERENCE..which is why its gone to shit with yall's willy nilly posts and wacked out opinions. Years and years of bullshuit fans have come here to make a home and in their colonizxation, have bastardized all that Prince music discussion here has come to be.
So basically fuck your identity until you (not meaning just you..but to the other ding dongs as well) get it right.

Pretty Man still owes me fi' dollas admission for that Graffiti Bridge mess. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I'll stay in the GD area.
Better to only have experts posting over here.

I was unemployed when that came out, and I lived on ramen noodles and peanut butter until my next unemployment check came because I wanted to see that movie so bad. I was piiiiiiiiiissed that I spent money on it. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.
