Problems with the N.E.W.S. cd, need info... So, I bought a copy of N.E.W.S. off Amazon. It arrived in the post today and I was excited to listen to it, so I put the CD in my laptop. The Autorun pops up and I thought, "What's this?" so I clicked on it.
This black screen appears then after a few seconds this white, smokey pixel blob thingy slowly appears on the screen. No music. Nothing!
I went to my cd drive on My Computer and opened the cd and there were no tracks...
What's going on? Does anyone know what this is about? | |

This is normal. Put the CD in a normal CD player and it has 4 audio tracks. The very limited cd-rom content was exactly as you describe. Just a black screen with something white appearing (I seem to recall it was just a web link to NPGMC or something, that's all) Just somewhere in the middle,

Put it in a CD player e.g. car - it will play fine
If you load into PC / laptop it will automatically play the video - it might look like a blank screen but ... very slowly ... it will reveal a message (it plays a Flash file, I think).
There might be a technical work around to play the music from the CD in a PC / laptop, but I'm not sure how to do so.

There's an option somewhere to turn off auto play. A quick google should reveal the details. Have you tried windows media player or similar? [Edited 1/18/13 6:48am] RIP  | |

Any audio ripper should see the tracks and be able to rip them, regardless of what you see in My Computer. Not dead, not in prison, still funkin'... |
