I don't believe Prince is a smoker now/ or, ever was a smoker of tobacco - back then (in 1984),

I have always felt like Prince was strongly against any kind of smoking,

also: on the "Rock this Joint" 2CD he stopped a 20+ minutes long version of "Days Of Wild" telling the audience to stop smoking, something about people should stop smoking "funny cigarettes" or else he would leave the stage, (do I remember this right?),

But then again why did he write about "2 cigarettes" on the When Doves Cry b-side:

on this song-- "17 Days", it sure sounds like he actually is smoking:

It's a song...not an autobiography...

Didn't Wendy and Lisa have something to do with writing 17 Days?

I don't think so, maybe the line was added just to garnish the lyrical quality.

Also the line "Light us up and take a hit" off a Gold Experience track "Now". Its a drug reference, but we all know Prince was not using.

Still there are stories about him drinking and dabbling with ecstacy and painkillers, but the sum total of his smoking and drug usage would be way done there if at all.
